哈尔滨信息工程学院是经教育部批准设置的全日制普通本科高等学校，1995年始建于哈尔滨，前身为哈尔滨华夏计算机职业技术学院。2003年评为国家首批示范性软件职业技术学院，2012年获批国家第一批教育信息化试点单位，2014年升格为普通本科高校并定现名，是黑龙江省唯一一所以信息工程命名的民办应用型本科高校，2022年选择非营利性办学类型。学校秉承“规范严谨，精益求精”校训，倡导“积极、踏实、学习、开放”校风，以建设高质量有特色的应用型本科院校为目标，打造卓越IT工程师的摇篮。

Harbin Institute of Information Technology is a full-time ordinary undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education. Founded in Harbin in 1995, its predecessor was Harbin Huaxia Computer Vocational and Technical College. In 2003, it was rated as one of the first national demonstration software vocational and technical colleges. In 2012, it was approved as one of the first national pilot units for educational informatization. In 2014, it was upgraded to an ordinary undergraduate university and given its current name. It is the only private application-oriented undergraduate university named after information engineering in Heilongjiang Province and chose the non-profit school-running type in 2022. Adhering to the school motto of "Standardized and Rigorous, Striving for Excellence" and advocating the school spirit of "Active, Steady, Learning, and Open", the university aims to build a high-quality and distinctive application-oriented undergraduate institution and create a cradle for outstanding IT engineers.

学校设有10个教学单位，涵盖工、管、艺、文4个学科门类，现有15个本科专业，聚焦计算机、电子信息类领域，其中软件工程专业为省级一流本科专业建设点。拥有哈东和江北两个校区，总占地面积69.59万平方米，校舍面积25.58万平方米，固定资产总值13.23亿元。现有教师644人，硕士及以上学位占比83.85%，副高职以上占比48.6%，双师双能型人才队伍特色鲜明。近三年获批省级教改项目63项，学生获省级及以上信息类竞赛奖1031项，被教育部授予“全国普通高等学校毕业生就业工作先进集体”。

The university has 10 teaching units covering 4 disciplines including engineering, management, art, and literature, with 15 undergraduate majors focusing on computer and electronic information fields, among which software engineering is a provincial first-class undergraduate major construction site. It has two campuses, Hadong and Jiangbei, with a total area of 695,900 square meters, a school building area of 255,800 square meters, and a total fixed asset value of 1.323 billion yuan. There are 644 teachers, with 83.85% holding master's degrees or above and 48.6% holding associate senior titles or above, featuring a distinctive team of double-qualified and double-capable talents. In the past three years, it has obtained 63 provincial-level educational reform projects, and students have won 1,031 provincial-level and above information competition awards. It was awarded the "Advanced Collective for Graduate Employment Work in National普通Colleges and Universities" by the Ministry of Education.
