Istanbul University is one of the oldest and most prestigious public research universities in Turkey. Its roots can be traced back to Islamic schools established during the Ottoman Empire in 1453, while the modern university was officially founded in 1933. As an important symbol of higher education in Turkey, the university is renowned worldwide for its profound academic traditions, extensive subject coverage, and outstanding research strength, particularly excelling in fields such as medicine, law, and humanities and social sciences.

大学主校区位于伊斯坦布尔欧洲部分的法提赫区，地处历史半岛核心地带，与众多著名历史遗迹相邻，校园建筑融合了古典与现代风格。目前，伊斯坦布尔大学设有17个学院、5个高等教育学院、12个研究所和多个研究中心，提供本科至博士阶段的各类课程，学生总数超过10万人，教职员工约6000人，构成了庞大而多元的学术社区。

The main campus of the university is located in the Fatih district on the European side of Istanbul, in the heart of the historic peninsula, adjacent to many famous historical sites. The campus buildings blend classical and modern styles. Currently, Istanbul University has 17 faculties, 5 higher education colleges, 12 research institutes, and multiple research centers, offering various courses from undergraduate to doctoral levels. With a total student population of over 100,000 and approximately 6,000 faculty and staff, it forms a large and diverse academic community.
