吉林工业职业技术学院创建于1950年10月，前身为吉林省工业专科学校，是新中国成立后吉林省第一所工业学校。1954年迁至吉林市，历经多次更名，2002年升格为普通高等职业院校并启用现名。学校由吉林省人民政府主办，吉林省教育厅主管，是国家示范性高等职业院校、第三批国家现代学徒制试点单位，以石油化工为特色，培养高素质技术技能人才。

Jilin Industry Polytechnic was founded in October 1950, formerly known as Jilin Provincial Industrial College, the first industrial school established in Jilin Province after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Moved to Jilin City in 1954 and renamed several times, it was upgraded to a regular higher vocational college in 2002 and adopted its current name. Sponsored by the Jilin Provincial People's Government and administered by the Jilin Provincial Department of Education, it is a national demonstration higher vocational college and a pilot unit of the third batch of national modern apprenticeship system, featuring petroleum and chemical engineering to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents.

学校现有恒山西路、宜山路、吉桦东路等校区，建筑面积12.66万平方米，规划新校区建筑面积25.1万平方米。教学科研仪器设备总值2.14亿元，馆藏图书107万册。全日制在校生11333人，教职工403人，其中高级职称152人，双师型教师157人。设有8个教学单位，开设49个高职专业，形成以石油化工为特色、装备制造为主体的专业布局。

The college currently has campuses including Hengshan West Road, Yishan Road, and Jihua East Road, with a building area of 126,600 square meters and a planned new campus building area of 251,000 square meters. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 214 million yuan, with 1.07 million books in the library. There are 11,333 full-time students and 403 faculty members, including 152 with senior professional titles and 157 dual-qualified teachers. It has 8 teaching units and offers 49 higher vocational majors, forming a professional layout featuring petroleum and chemical engineering and focusing on equipment manufacturing.

学校荣获国家节约型公共机构示范单位、黄炎培职业教育奖优秀学校奖等多项荣誉，拥有国家示范专业4个、国家级教学团队1个，建有150个校内实训基地和282个校外实习基地。近五年学生获国家级技能竞赛奖项25项、省级奖项614项，每年约12%毕业生升入本科院校深造，就业率保持在90%以上。

The college has won many honors such as National Model Unit of Economical Public Institutions and Excellent School Award of Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award. It has 4 national demonstration majors, 1 national teaching team, 150 on-campus training bases and 282 off-campus internship bases. In the past five years, students have won 25 national skill competition awards and 614 provincial awards. About 12% of graduates enter undergraduate institutions for further study each year, with an employment rate maintained above 90%.
