吉林交通职业技术学院的前身吉林省交通学校始建于1958年，1998年经教育部批准与吉林省交通职工大学合并成立吉林交通职业技术学院，是全国第一批、吉林省第一所独立设置的高等职业技术学院。学校是国家百所骨干高职院校、国家“双高计划”高水平专业群建设单位、国家现代学徒制试点学校，坐落于长春市高新区，占地面积18.57万平方米，现有教职工549人，全日制在校生1.3万余人。

The predecessor of Jilin Communications Polytechnic, Jilin Provincial Communications School, was founded in 1958. In 1998, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to merge with Jilin Provincial Communications Workers' University to establish Jilin Communications Polytechnic, which is among the first batch of independent higher vocational colleges in China and the first one in Jilin Province. The school is one of the national 100 backbone higher vocational colleges, a construction unit of the national "Double High-Level Plan" high-level professional group, and a national modern apprenticeship pilot school. Located in the High-Tech Zone of Changchun City, it covers an area of 185,700 square meters, with 549 faculty members and more than 13,000 full-time students.

学校设有道桥工程学院、汽车工程学院、管理工程学院等11个教学单位，开设资源环境与安全、土木建筑、装备制造等六大类共39个专业。建校以来共培养各层次应用型高技能人才7万余人，其中15人次获詹天佑土木工程大奖及国家级设计大师称号，被誉为吉林交通事业的“黄埔”，两次被吉林省政府授予“职业教育先进单位”称号，是吉林省现代职业教育改革发展示范学校，曾荣获“黄炎培职业教育优秀学校奖”。

The school has 11 teaching units including the School of Road and Bridge Engineering, School of Automotive Engineering, and School of Management Engineering, offering 39 majors in six categories such as resource environment and safety, civil engineering and construction, and equipment manufacturing. Since its establishment, it has cultivated more than 70,000 applied high-skilled talents at various levels, among whom 15 have won the Zhan Tianyou Civil Engineering Award and national-level design master titles, known as the "Whampoa Military Academy" of Jilin's transportation industry. It has been awarded the title of "Advanced Unit in Vocational Education" by the Jilin Provincial Government twice, is a model school for the reform and development of modern vocational education in Jilin Province, and has won the "Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Excellent School Award".
