辽宁轻工职业学院的前身是始建于1965年的辽宁省纺织工业学校，1999年并入大连轻工业学院开办高职专科教育，2012年8月经辽宁省人民政府批准独立设置为辽宁轻工职业学院。学校隶属于辽宁省教育厅，位于大连市金普新区，是辽宁及东北地区唯一一所轻工类高等职业院校，也是大连地区唯一一所省属公办高职专科院校。学校历经多年发展，已成为辽宁省高职教育改革发展示范校、辽宁省高水平特色专业群立项建设单位，拥有全日制在校生9000余人，占地面积20余万平方米，总建筑面积近14万平方米。

Liaoning Vocational College of Light Industry traces its roots back to Liaoning Textile Industry School founded in 1965. In 1999, it was merged into Dalian Institute of Light Industry to offer higher vocational education. Approved by the Liaoning Provincial People's Government in August 2012, it was established as an independent institution. Affiliated to the Liaoning Provincial Department of Education and located in Jinpu New District of Dalian, it is the only higher vocational college specializing in light industry in Liaoning and Northeast China, as well as the only provincial public vocational college in Dalian. After years of development, it has become a model school for the reform and development of higher vocational education in Liaoning Province and a project construction unit for high-level characteristic professional groups in Liaoning. The college has over 9,000 full-time students, covering an area of more than 200,000 square meters with a total construction area of nearly 140,000 square meters.

学校以“自立自强、砺能笃行”为校训，坚持以就业为导向，紧密围绕区域经济发展战略调整专业结构，开设艺、文、工、管四大类37个专业，形成了纺织服装类、艺术创意类、现代服务类、电子信息类、先进制造类五大专业群。其中现代纺织服装专业群、智能制造专业群为辽宁省高水平特色专业群，服装设计与工艺等3个专业被认定为高等职业教育创新发展行动计划骨干专业。学校拥有各类专业工作室、教学实训室107个，校外实习实训基地300余个，教学仪器设备总值7600余万元，馆藏纸质图书45余万册，致力于培养高素质技术技能人才，毕业生就业率在同类院校中名列前茅，荣获辽宁省普通高校毕业生就业工作先进集体称号。

With the school motto of "Self-reliance, Self-improvement, Cultivating Abilities and Practicing Earnestly", the college adheres to employment-oriented education, adjusts its professional structure in close alignment with regional economic development strategies, and offers 37 majors covering four categories: art, liberal arts, engineering, and management. It has formed five major professional groups: textile and apparel, artistic creativity, modern services, electronic information, and advanced manufacturing. Among them, the modern textile and apparel professional group and intelligent manufacturing professional group are high-level characteristic professional groups in Liaoning Province. Three majors including Fashion Design and Technology have been recognized as key majors in the Action Plan for Innovation and Development of Higher Vocational Education. The college boasts 107 professional studios and teaching training rooms, over 300 off-campus internship and training bases, teaching instruments and equipment worth more than 76 million yuan, and a collection of over 450,000 paper books. Committed to cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents, its graduates' employment rate ranks among the top in similar institutions, and it has been awarded the title of Advanced Collective for Graduate Employment Work in Liaoning Provincial Colleges and Universities.
