University of Tromsø – The Arctic University of Norway is a public research university founded in 1968, located in Tromsø, approximately 300 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. As the northernmost university in the world and the largest educational and research institution in northern Norway, it specializes in Arctic-related disciplines, covering natural sciences, social sciences, medicine, and humanities. It holds global influence particularly in space science, aurora research, fisheries science, and Sámi culture studies.

As one of Norway's seven research universities, it merged with Tromsø University College in 2009 and integrated Finnmark University College in 2013 to form its current structure. Comprising 5 faculties and the Norwegian College of Fishery Science, it offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs, with some courses taught in English, attracting students worldwide. Its unique location serves as a natural laboratory for research on Arctic environments, climate change, and polar ecology. In 2021, it ranked 416th in the QS World University Rankings.
