University of Zagreb, located in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, is the oldest and largest higher education institution in Croatia and a research university with significant influence in Southeast Europe. Its history dates back to 1669 when it was established by a decree issued by Austrian Emperor Leopold I as a Jesuit college, which later evolved into a comprehensive public university covering multiple disciplines.

Currently, it has over 7,900 faculty members and 72,480 students, with multiple colleges including the Faculty of Transport Sciences, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and Faculty of Medicine. In 2024, it ranked among the top 500 in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
