Founded in 1996, the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) is located in Lugano, the largest city in the canton of Ticino in southern Switzerland. As one of Switzerland's 12 public universities and the only public comprehensive university in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland, USI is renowned for its interdisciplinary and multilingual education. It comprises four faculties: Economics, Communication Sciences, Informatics, and Architecture, offering undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs. Italian is the primary language of instruction, with some master's courses taught in English, French, or German.

USI enjoys an international reputation in fields such as economics, informatics, and architecture. Its undergraduate programs include Media Management, Finance, Architecture, and Management, while doctoral programs are offered in Economics, Communication Sciences, and Informatics. Additionally, USI provides executive master's programs for professionals, such as Educational Management and Healthcare Economics and Management. As one of the first Swiss universities to adopt the new European university system, USI has established close collaborations with leading institutions like Politecnico di Milano and ETH Zurich, serving as a key academic bridge connecting northern and southern Europe.
