Addis Ababa University is a state-owned university located in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. Originally established as the University College of Addis Ababa in 1950, it was renamed Haile Selassie I University in 1962 after Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, and officially adopted its current name in 1975.
