保山学院位于云南省保山市，办学历史最早可追溯到1905年创办的永昌师范学堂，1978年4月经教育部批准成立保山师范高等专科学校，2009年4月升格为本科院校，实行省市共建、以省为主的管理体制。学校秉承“厚德、励学、敬业、笃行”的校训，扎根边疆、立足云南、服务地方，历经多年发展，已成为一所涵盖文、史、理、工、农、法、管理、教育、艺术等9个学科门类的综合性本科院校，2021年获批云南省硕士学位授予单位立项建设，2024年再次获批云南省立项建设新增硕士学位授予单位（A类重点支持）。

Baoshan University is located in Baoshan City, Yunnan Province. Its educational history can be traced back to the Yongchang Normal School founded in 1905. In April 1978, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to establish Baoshan Teachers' College, and was upgraded to an undergraduate university in April 2009, operating under the management system of joint construction by provinces and cities with provincial leadership. Adhering to the school motto of "Virtue, Diligence, Dedication, and Practice", the university has rooted in the border areas, based in Yunnan, and served the local community. After years of development, it has become a comprehensive undergraduate university covering 9 disciplines including arts, history, science, engineering, agriculture, law, management, education, and art. In 2021, it was approved as a master's degree-granting unit construction project in Yunnan Province, and in 2024, it was again approved as an additional master's degree-granting unit (Class A key support) in Yunnan Province.

学校现有占地面积70.90万平方米，校舍建筑面积27.92万平方米，教学科研仪器设备总值16771.46万元，馆藏纸质文献133.74万册。设有12个二级学院43个本科专业，全日制在校生11839人，专任教师669人，其中正高级95人、副高级180人，博士学位223人、硕士学位332人。拥有1个国家级、9个省级一流本科专业建设点，10个专业通过教育部师范类专业认证，荣获国家高等教育教学成果奖二等奖1项，云南省教育教学成果奖二等奖3项，形成了“扎根边疆、服务基层、艰苦创业、开放创新”的办学特色。

The university currently covers an area of 709,000 square meters with a building area of 279,200 square meters. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 167.7146 million yuan, and the collection of paper documents is 1.3374 million volumes. It has 12 secondary colleges and 43 undergraduate majors, with 11,839 full-time students and 669 full-time teachers, including 95 with senior professional titles, 180 with associate senior professional titles, 223 with doctoral degrees, and 332 with master's degrees. It has 1 national-level and 9 provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 10 majors have passed the teacher education professional certification of the Ministry of Education, and has won 1 second prize of the National Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award and 3 second prizes of Yunnan Provincial Education Teaching Achievement Award, forming the school-running characteristics of "rooted in border areas, serving grassroots, hard work, and open innovation".
