张家界航空工业职业技术学院创建于1979年，2001年经湖南省人民政府批准升格为全日制普通高等学校。学校先后隶属于原航空工业部、航空航天工业部、航空工业总公司等，现隶属湖南省教育厅，是湖南省示范性高职院校、全国毕业生就业典型经验高校、中国人民解放军定向培养军士定点院校。

Zhangjiajie Institute of Aeronautical Engineering was founded in 1979 and upgraded to a full-time ordinary higher education institution with the approval of Hunan Provincial People's Government in 2001. The college was formerly affiliated to the Ministry of Aviation Industry, Ministry of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Aviation Industry Corporation of China, etc., and is now affiliated to Hunan Provincial Department of Education. It is a model higher vocational college in Hunan Province, a national typical experience university for graduate employment, and a designated institution for定向 training of non-commissioned officers by the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

学校位于世界自然遗产张家界市，占地面积762亩，建筑面积17.2万平方米，教职工570余人，在校生14300余人。设有航空制造、航空维修、航空电气等六大特色专业群35个专业，其中国家级重点建设专业2个、省级一流特色专业群1个，拥有200余个实验实训室及196个校外实习基地。

Located in Zhangjiajie City, a world natural heritage site, the college covers an area of 762 mu with a building area of 172,000 square meters. It has more than 570 faculty members and over 14,300 students. The college has 35 majors in six characteristic professional groups including aviation manufacturing, aviation maintenance, and aviation electrical engineering, among which 2 are national key construction majors and 1 is a provincial first-class characteristic professional group. It has more than 200 experimental training rooms and 196 off-campus internship bases.

学校深化产教融合，与中国航发、中航工业等企业共建产业学院，实施订单培养，获评国防科技工业职业教育实训基地、全国职工职业技能实训基地。近年来获国家专利200余项，主编教材200余种，学生在全国职业技能大赛中屡获金奖，毕业生就业率连续保持全省同类院校前列。

The college deepens the integration of production and education, jointly builds industrial colleges with enterprises such as AECC and AVIC, and implements order-based training. It has been awarded as the National Defense Science and Technology Industry Vocational Education Training Base and National Staff Vocational Skills Training Base. In recent years, it has obtained more than 200 national patents, edited more than 200 teaching materials, and students have won gold medals in national vocational skills competitions. The employment rate of graduates has remained at the forefront of similar colleges in the province.
