北京工商大学是北京市重点建设的高水平研究型大学，创建于1950年，历经北京商学院、北京轻工业学院等发展阶段，1999年由两校合并组建而成。学校以商科、轻工技术与工程为特色，工、管、经、理、文、法、艺等多学科协调发展，是国家首批卓越农林人才教育培养计划改革试点高校，入选北京市“双一流”建设计划。

Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU) is a key high-level research university in Beijing, founded in 1950. It has gone through developmental stages such as Beijing Business University and Beijing Institute of Light Industry, and was established by the merger of the two universities in 1999. The university features business and light industry technology and engineering, with coordinated development of multiple disciplines including engineering, management, economics, science, liberal arts, law, and arts. It is one of the first pilot universities for the reform of the National Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talents Education and Training Program and has been selected into Beijing's "Double First-Class" construction plan.

学校现有良乡、阜成路两个校区，占地面积1245亩，设有16个学院、54个本科专业，拥有一级学科博士学位授权点5个、一级学科硕士学位授权点20个，形成了从本科到博士的完整人才培养体系。在校生近2.5万人，其中研究生6000余人。

The university currently has two campuses, Liangxiang and Fucheng Road, covering an area of 1,245 mu. It has 16 colleges and 54 undergraduate majors, with 5 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points and 20 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, forming a complete talent training system from undergraduate to doctoral levels. There are nearly 25,000 students, including more than 6,000 graduate students.

学校坚持“立足北京、服务首都、面向全国、走向世界”的办学定位，在食品科学与工程、应用经济学、工商管理等学科领域形成显著优势，拥有国家级科研平台4个、省部级重点实验室10个。近年来，获国家级教学成果奖、省部级科技进步奖等各类奖项百余项，为国家和地方经济社会发展培养了大批高素质应用型人才。

Adhering to the school-running orientation of "based in Beijing, serving the capital, facing the whole country, and going global", the university has formed significant advantages in disciplines such as food science and engineering, applied economics, and business administration. It has 4 national-level scientific research platforms and 10 provincial-level key laboratories. In recent years, it has won more than 100 awards such as national teaching achievement awards and provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress awards, cultivating a large number of high-quality applied talents for national and local economic and social development.
