包头轻工职业技术学院坐落于全国首批文明城市、美丽的鹿城——包头，始建于1956年，是内蒙古自治区唯一一所轻工类高职院校。2002年经自治区人民政府批准、教育部备案，由原内蒙古轻工业学校独立改建而成，隶属包头市人民政府。经过近70年的办学积淀，学院已形成以轻工类专业为优势、新能源类专业为重点、现代服务类专业为补充的办学格局，开设涵盖农牧、能源动力、化工材料、装备制造、食品药品、财经商贸、教育等14个专业大类的46个高职专业。

Baotou Light Industry Vocational and Technical College is located in Baotou, one of the first national civilized cities and known as the "Beautiful Deer City". Founded in 1956, it is the only higher vocational college specializing in light industry in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Approved by the Autonomous Region People's Government and registered with the Ministry of Education in 2002, the college was independently restructured from the former Inner Mongolia Light Industry School and is affiliated to the Baotou Municipal People's Government. After nearly 70 years of development, the college has formed a educational pattern with light industry majors as its advantages, new energy majors as its focus, and modern service majors as supplements, offering 46 higher vocational majors covering 14 professional categories such as agriculture and animal husbandry, energy and power, chemical materials, equipment manufacturing, food and pharmaceuticals, finance and commerce, and education.

学院现有教职工900余人，在校生14000余人，占地1000余亩，教学仪器设备总值超1亿元。建成国家骨干专业3个、国家级现场工程师培养计划试点专业1个、自治区重点建设专业2个、自治区品牌专业10个，拥有15个教学系部和200多个校内外实验实训基地。近年来先后获得全国文明校园、全国创新创业50强高校、国家高技能人才培训基地、国家级众创空间等荣誉称号，校园是自治区高校中唯一的AAA景区。

The college has over 900 faculty members and more than 14,000 students, covering an area of over 1,000 mu, with teaching instruments and equipment worth over 100 million yuan. It has built 3 national key majors, 1 national pilot major for on-site engineer training program, 2 autonomous region key construction majors, and 10 autonomous region brand majors, with 15 teaching departments and more than 200 on-campus and off-campus experimental training bases. In recent years, it has successively won honorary titles such as National Civilized Campus, Top 50 National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Universities, National High-skilled Talents Training Base, and National Mass Innovation Space. The campus is the only AAA-level scenic spot among colleges and universities in the autonomous region.
