中央戏剧学院是新中国第一所戏剧教育高等学校，是教育部直属院校，是中国戏剧影视艺术教育的最高学府，是国家确定的“双一流”建设高校，是中国高等戏剧教育联盟总部、亚洲戏剧教育研究中心总部和世界戏剧教育联盟秘书处所在地，是世界著名的艺术院校。

The Central Academy of Drama is the first higher education institution for theater education in New China. It is a university directly under the Ministry of Education, the highest institution of education in Chinese theater, film and television art, and a "Double First-Class" construction university designated by the state. It is the headquarters of the China Higher Drama Education Alliance, the headquarters of the Asian Drama Education Research Center, and the secretariat of the World Theatre Education Alliance, and is a world-renowned art academy.

学校的历史可以溯源至1938年4月10日成立的延安鲁迅艺术学院，历经华北联合大学文艺学院、华北大学第三部，后又有南京国立戏剧专科学校并入。1949年12月，中央戏剧学院正式开办，毛泽东主席亲笔题写校名。

The history of the school can be traced back to the Yan'an Lu Xun Academy of Arts founded on April 10, 1938. It went through the School of Literature and Art of North China United University and the Third Department of North China University, and later merged with the Nanjing National Theatre College. In December 1949, the Central Academy of Drama was officially established, with the school name inscribed by Chairman Mao Zedong.

学校现有两个校区，分别位于北京市东城区东棉花胡同39号和昌平区宏福中路4号。学校设有表演系、导演系、舞台美术系、戏剧文学系、音乐剧系、京剧系、歌剧系、舞剧系、戏剧管理系、电影电视系、戏剧教育系、戏剧研究院等12个教学单位，涵盖戏剧与影视学、艺术学理论、设计学等多个学科。

The school currently has two campuses, located at No. 39 Dongmianhua Hutong, Dongcheng District, Beijing and No. 4 Hongfu Middle Road, Changping District. The school has 12 teaching units including the Department of Performance, Directing, Stage Design, Drama Literature, Musical Theatre, Peking Opera, Opera, Dance Drama, Drama Management, Film and Television, Drama Education, and Drama Research Institute, covering multiple disciplines such as Drama and Film Studies, Art Theory, and Design.

建校以来，中央戏剧学院始终坚持现实主义艺术原则，继承中华民族美学传统，博采众长，厚基础、重实践，秉承“求真、创造、至美”的校训，为国家培养了大批戏剧影视艺术人才，为中国戏剧影视事业的发展作出了重要贡献。

Since its establishment, the Central Academy of Drama has always adhered to the principles of realistic art, inherited the aesthetic traditions of the Chinese nation, learned from others' strengths, laid a solid foundation and emphasized practice, and adhering to the school motto of "Seeking Truth, Creating, and Pursuing Beauty", it has cultivated a large number of戏剧影视艺术 talents for the country and made important contributions to the development of Chinese theater, film and television industry.
