中央美术学院是中华人民共和国教育部直属的唯一一所高等美术学校，是中国高等美术教育领域具有代表性、引领性和示范性的美术院校，在国内外享有盛誉。学校的前身是1918年由著名教育家蔡元培先生倡导成立的国立北京美术学校，是中国历史上第一所国立美术教育学府，开创了中国现代美术教育的新纪元。

The Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) is the only higher art school directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It is a representative, leading, and exemplary art institution in the field of higher art education in China, enjoying a high reputation both at home and abroad. The predecessor of the school was the National Beijing School of Fine Arts founded in 1918 under the initiative of the renowned educator Mr. Cai Yuanpei. It was the first national art education institution in Chinese history, pioneering a new era of modern art education in China.
