卡塔尼亚大学建立于1434年，是意大利具有悠久历史的综合性古老大学之一。大学拥有十二个学院，分布在卡塔尼亚、希拉库萨、拉库萨等城市，目前已注册约35800名学生，其中外国留学生有100余人。在研究领域，卡塔尼亚大学拥有广泛的自主权，与全国主要研究机构建立了密切合作关系，并同欧洲、美国、日本及地中海周边多国大学签署国际合作协议，与企业界的合作也是其发展的战略重点。

The University of Catania, founded in 1434, is one of Italy's ancient comprehensive universities with a long history. It has twelve faculties located in cities such as Catania, Syracuse, and Ragusa, with approximately 35,800 registered students, including over 100 international students. In the field of research, the university enjoys extensive autonomy, has established close cooperative relationships with major national research institutions, and has signed international cooperation agreements with universities in Europe, the United States, Japan, and many countries around the Mediterranean. Cooperation with the business community is also a strategic priority for its development.

该校最初为神学院，十六世纪后逐步发展为综合性大学。1840年西西里王国时期，陆续建立法学院、数学物理自然科学院等，二战后于1947年增设农学院。其学科设置涵盖农、工、文、法、医等多个领域，2021年QS世界大学排名位列801-1000名区间，运动科学专业在2018年泰晤士世界大学学科排名中位列第103位。

Originally a theological seminary, the university gradually developed into a comprehensive institution after the 16th century. During the Kingdom of Sicily in 1840, faculties such as the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences were successively established, and the Faculty of Agriculture was added in 1947 after World War II. Its disciplines cover agriculture, engineering, humanities, law, medicine and other fields. In 2021, it ranked in the 801-1000 range in the QS World University Rankings, and its Sports Science program ranked 103rd in the 2018 Times Higher Education World University Subject Rankings.
