成都体育学院始建于1942年，前身为四川省立体育专科学校，是新中国成立后首批创建的体育院校之一。学校以体育学科为特色，涵盖教育学、文学、管理学、医学等多学科协调发展，是西南地区体育人才培养和科学研究的重要基地。

Chengdu Sport University was founded in 1942, formerly known as Sichuan Provincial College of Physical Education. It is one of the first sports universities established after the founding of the People's Republic of China. With sports as its characteristic discipline, the university covers the coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as education, literature, management, and medicine, and is an important base for sports talent cultivation and scientific research in Southwest China.

学校拥有完整的学士、硕士、博士人才培养体系，现有20余个本科专业，其中国家级一流本科专业建设点10个，省级一流本科专业建设点8个。在长期办学过程中，形成了“以体为本、体医渗透、体文结合”的鲜明办学特色，培养了大批优秀体育人才和社会各界精英。
