中南大学坐落在中国历史文化名城——湖南省长沙市，是教育部直属全国重点大学、国家“双一流”A类建设高校、“985工程”“211工程”重点建设高校，由原湖南医科大学、长沙铁道学院与中南工业大学于2000年4月合并组建而成。学校学科门类齐全，涵盖工学、理学、医学、文学、法学、经济学、管理学、哲学、教育学、历史学、艺术学等11大学科门类，拥有一批国家重点学科和优势专业，在有色金属、医学、轨道交通等领域形成了鲜明的办学特色和学科优势。

Central South University is located in Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city in China. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a national "Double First-Class" Class A university, and a key university under the "985 Project" and "211 Project". It was formed by the merger of the former Hunan Medical University, Changsha Railway Institute and Central South University of Technology in April 2000. The university has a complete range of disciplines, covering 11 disciplines including engineering, science, medicine, literature, law, economics, management, philosophy, education, history, and art. It has a number of national key disciplines and advantageous majors, and has formed distinct school-running characteristics and disciplinary advantages in fields such as non-ferrous metals, medicine, and rail transit.

学校始终坚持立德树人根本任务，着力培养德智体美劳全面发展的社会主义建设者和接班人。现有全日制在校学生6万余人，其中本科生3.4万余人、研究生2.6万余人、国际学生2000余人。学校师资力量雄厚，现有教职工5800余人，其中中国科学院院士10人、中国工程院院士18人，国家杰出青年科学基金获得者等国家级人才300余人次。近年来，学校在科学研究、人才培养、社会服务等方面取得了一系列重要成果，先后获得国家科技进步奖、国家自然科学奖、国家技术发明奖等多项国家级奖励，为国家和地方经济社会发展作出了重要贡献。

The university always adheres to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and strives to cultivate socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor. Currently, there are more than 60,000 full-time students, including over 34,000 undergraduates, over 26,000 postgraduates, and over 2,000 international students. The university has a strong faculty, with more than 5,800 faculty members, including 10 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 18 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and more than 300 national-level talents such as winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. In recent years, the university has achieved a series of important results in scientific research, talent training, social services, etc., and has won many national awards such as the National Science and Technology Progress Award, National Natural Science Award, and National Technology Invention Award, making important contributions to national and local economic and social development.
