巢湖学院是安徽省属全日制公办本科高校，创建于1977年，前身是巢湖师范专科学校。2002年4月，经教育部批准升格为本科院校并更名巢湖学院，2019年10月获批新增硕士学位授予立项建设单位，2024年2月成为重点立项建设硕士学位授予单位。学校坐落于合肥市巢湖半汤温泉养生度假区，占地面积1373.41亩，设有15个二级学院、56个本科专业，涵盖经、法、教、文、史、理、工、管、艺9大学科门类，现有教职工1177人，全日制在校生规模逾万人。

Chaohu University is a full-time public undergraduate institution affiliated to Anhui Province, founded in 1977 with its predecessor being Chaohu Normal College. In April 2002, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be升格为 an undergraduate university and renamed Chaohu University. In October 2019, it was approved as a project construction unit for granting master's degrees, and in February 2024, it became a key project construction unit for granting master's degrees. Located in the Ban汤 Hot Spring Health Resort of Chaohu, Hefei City, the university covers an area of 1373.41 acres, with 15 secondary colleges and 56 undergraduate majors covering 9 disciplines including economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, and art. It has 1177 faculty members and a full-time student population of over 10,000.

学校坚持地方性、应用型办学定位，拥有省级人文社科重点研究基地“环巢湖文化与经济社会发展研究中心”，以及省级特色专业建设点5个、省级教学团队6个。教学科研仪器设备总值达1.85亿元，图书馆纸质文献超116万册，电子资源涵盖中外文数据库25种。近年来获全国高校人文社科优秀成果奖、安徽省科技进步奖等市厅级以上科研奖励20余项，与韩国韩瑞大学等海外高校开展中外合作办学项目，形成了“立足巢湖、服务安徽、面向全国”的办学特色。

Adhering to a local and application-oriented school-running orientation, the university has a provincial key research base for humanities and social sciences - "Research Center for Huanchaohu Culture and Economic and Social Development", as well as 5 provincial-level characteristic specialty construction sites and 6 provincial-level teaching teams. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment reaches 185 million yuan, the library has over 1.16 million paper documents, and electronic resources cover 25 Chinese and foreign databases. In recent years, it has won more than 20 municipal and departmental-level scientific research awards such as the National Excellent Achievement Award for Humanities and Social Sciences in Colleges and Universities and the Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. It has carried out Sino-foreign cooperative education programs with overseas universities such as Hanseo University in South Korea, forming a school-running characteristic of "based in Chaohu, serving Anhui, and facing the whole country".
