重庆医科大学创建于1956年，由上海第一医学院（现复旦大学上海医学院）分迁来渝组建，原名重庆医学院，1985年更名为重庆医科大学。学校是国务院学位委员会批准的首批具有博士和硕士学位授予权的单位，是教育部批准的首批来华留学示范基地，是教育部、国家卫生健康委员会和重庆市人民政府共建高校。

Chongqing Medical University was founded in 1956, established by the relocation of Shanghai First Medical College (now Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University) to Chongqing. Originally named Chongqing Medical College, it was renamed Chongqing Medical University in 1985. The university is one of the first institutions authorized by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council to grant doctoral and master's degrees, a national demonstration base for international students in China approved by the Ministry of Education, and a university jointly built by the Ministry of Education, the National Health Commission, and the People's Government of Chongqing Municipality.

学校现有袁家岗和缙云两个校区，校园总面积2650亩。设有22个学院（系），开设36个本科专业，覆盖医学、理学、工学、管理学、法学、教育学、文学等7个学科门类。拥有4个国家重点学科，16个重庆市一级重点学科，14个博士后科研流动站，一级学科博士学位授权点15个，一级学科硕士学位授权点30个。

The university currently has two campuses, Yuanjiagang and Jinyun, with a total campus area of 2,650 mu. It has 22 colleges (departments), offering 36 undergraduate majors covering 7 disciplines including medicine, science, engineering, management, law, education, and literature. It has 4 national key disciplines, 16 first-class key disciplines in Chongqing, 14 post-doctoral research stations, 15 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, and 30 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points.

学校坚持以人才培养为中心，形成了从本科生到博士后、从全日制到成人教育、留学生教育全方位、多层次的人才培养体系。现有全日制在校学生27000余人，其中研究生11000余人，留学生1000余人。近年来，学校荣获国家级教学成果奖7项，省级教学成果奖60余项。

Adhering to talent cultivation as the center, the university has formed an all-round and multi-level talent cultivation system from undergraduate to post-doctoral, from full-time to adult education, and international student education. There are more than 27,000 full-time students, including over 11,000 postgraduates and more than 1,000 international students. In recent years, the university has won 7 national teaching achievement awards and more than 60 provincial teaching achievement awards.

学校拥有一支高水平的师资队伍，现有教职工5800余人，其中高级职称1800余人，博士生导师500余人，硕士生导师1800余人。拥有中国工程院院士2人，国家杰出青年科学基金获得者、国家优秀青年科学基金获得者等国家级人才100余人次，重庆市学术技术带头人等省级人才300余人次。

The university has a high-level faculty of more than 5,800 staff, including over 1,800 with senior professional titles, more than 500 doctoral supervisors, and over 1,800 master supervisors. It has 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, more than 100 national-level talents such as winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund and National Excellent Youth Science Fund, and more than 300 provincial-level talents such as academic and technical leaders in Chongqing.

学校科研实力雄厚，建有国家重点实验室、国家工程研究中心、国家临床医学研究中心等国家级科研平台7个，省部级科研平台76个。近五年，承担国家级科研项目1000余项，包括国家重点研发计划项目、国家自然科学基金重大重点项目等；获得国家级科技奖励8项，省部级科技奖励100余项。

The university has strong scientific research strength, with 7 national-level scientific research platforms such as State Key Laboratories, National Engineering Research Centers, and National Clinical Research Centers, and 76 provincial-level scientific research platforms. In the past five years, it has undertaken more than 1,000 national-level scientific research projects, including national key R&D program projects and major key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China; and has won 8 national science and technology awards and more than 100 provincial science and technology awards.
