长沙医学院是教育部批准的全国第一所民办医学普通本科院校。前身是第十二届全国人大代表、全国教育系统先进工作者、全国优秀教育工作者、校长何彬生教授于1983年创办的湘南中等卫生职业技术学校，1996年更名为湘南卫生中等专业学校，1999年升格为湘南医学高等专科学校，2005年升格为长沙医学院。学校占地面积187.41万m²，教学行政用房52.08万m²，学生宿舍30.37万m²；教学科研仪器设备总值25365.65万元；图书馆拥有图书资源274.60万册，体育场馆总面积12.86万m²（体育馆3.93万m²）。现有16个二级学院、全日制在校本科生24966人，15所附属医院（1所直属、14所非直属）、28所教学医院等240个实践教学基地（三甲医院60家）。

Changsha Medical University is the first private general undergraduate medical college approved by the Ministry of Education. Its predecessor was Xiangnan Secondary Health Vocational and Technical School founded in 1983 by Professor He Binsheng, a deputy to the 12th National People's Congress, an advanced worker in the national education system, and an outstanding educator in China. It was renamed Xiangnan Health Secondary Professional School in 1996, upgraded to Xiangnan Medical College in 1999, and升格为 Changsha Medical University in 2005. The university covers an area of 1.8741 million square meters, with 520,800 square meters of teaching and administrative rooms and 303,700 square meters of student dormitories; the total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 253.6565 million yuan; the library has 2.746 million volumes of books, and the total area of sports venues is 128,600 square meters (gymnasium 39,300 square meters). There are 16 secondary colleges, 24,966 full-time undergraduates, 15 affiliated hospitals (1 directly affiliated and 14 non-directly affiliated), 28 teaching hospitals and other 240 practical teaching bases (60 Grade III A hospitals).

Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the university adheres to the Party's overall leadership, the socialist orientation in running schools, and fully implements the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. It upholds the school-running purpose of "Changsha Medical University for Millennia, Benefiting the People through Healing", promotes the academic spirit of "Virtue, Erudition, Energy Storage, and Truth-Seeking", and adheres to the educational philosophy of "running schools with teachers as the foundation and teaching with students as the foundation". It adheres to the educational thought of "integration of medicine and humanities, combination of erudition and specialization, and equal emphasis on theory and practice", actively faces the society, serves the grassroots, focuses on connotation construction, and has gradually formed the school-running characteristic of integrating medical treatment, teaching and research to cultivate grass-roots applied medical and health talents. It currently has 37 undergraduate majors and enrolls students from 31 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) across the country. It has 1 national-level characteristic specialty construction site, 2 provincial-level characteristic specialties, 6 first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites, and 3 comprehensive reform pilot specialties.

主持国家教育科学研究项目和省级教改项目、教育规划课题445项，获省级教学成果奖19项，建有国家级一流本科课程3门，省级一流本科课程35门，省级精品课程3门，省级精品在线开放课程4门，省级名师空间课堂1门，省级微课课程1门，省级课程思政示范课程和教学团队3个，省级课程思政教学研究示范中心1个。有湖南省普通高校科技创新团队1个、湖南省普通高等学校教学团队1个，省级优秀教研室3个，省级优秀实习基地3个，省级校企合作人才培养示范基地2个，省级创新创业教育基地10个，省级创新创业教育中心11个，省级大学生创新训练中心1个，省级大学生科技创新创业培训基地1个，省级大学生创新创业孵化示范基地1个。

There is 1 scientific and technological innovation team of Hunan ordinary colleges and universities, 1 teaching team of Hunan ordinary colleges and universities, 3 provincial excellent teaching and research sections, 3 provincial excellent internship bases, 2 provincial school-enterprise cooperation talent training demonstration bases, 10 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship education bases, 11 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship education centers, 1 provincial college student innovation training center, 1 provincial college student science and technology innovation and entrepreneurship training base, and 1 provincial college student innovation and entrepreneurship incubation demonstration base.

学校建有中国商业联合会中医药农业科学重点实验室1个、中医药农业生物基因组学湖南省重点实验室等省级重点实验室5个、院士工作站4个，立项湖南省应用特色学科3个。近年来，教师主持国家自然科学基金项目20项，湖南省自然科学基金项目57项，其他省部级科研项目272项，获湖南省自然科学奖2项，日内瓦国际发明奖金奖1项，中国商业联合会科技进步奖一等奖。学校围绕中医药农业科学研究全面启动临床医学、药理学与毒理学等11个ESI前沿学科建设，发表SCI论文1300余篇，其中影响因子10分以上的36篇，高被引论文40余篇。学科国际影响力显著提升，2024年临床医学学科跻身ESI全球排名前1%，2025年药理学与毒理学学科进入ESI全球排名前1%行列。（本文数据统计截至于2025年9月）

The university has built 1 Key Laboratory of Chinese Medicine Agricultural Science of China General Chamber of Commerce, 5 provincial key laboratories such as Hunan Key Laboratory of Chinese Medicine Agricultural Genomics, 4 academician workstations, and 3 applied characteristic disciplines in Hunan Province. In recent years, teachers have presided over 20 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 57 Hunan Natural Science Foundation projects, and 272 other provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, won 2 Hunan Natural Science Awards, 1 Gold Award of Geneva International Invention Award, and 1 First Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of China General Chamber of Commerce. Centering on the research of Chinese medicine agricultural science, the university has fully launched the construction of 11 ESI frontier disciplines such as clinical medicine, pharmacology and toxicology, and published more than 1,300 SCI papers, including 36 papers with an impact factor of more than 10 and more than 40 highly cited papers. The international influence of disciplines has been significantly enhanced. In 2024, the clinical medicine discipline ranked among the top 1% of ESI global rankings, and in 2025, the pharmacology and toxicology discipline entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings.
