中南林业科技大学是一所具有深厚历史底蕴和鲜明特色的多科性大学，其前身为1958年成立的湖南林学院，历经多年发展与合并，于2005年正式更名为中南林业科技大学。学校以林业科学为优势，涵盖理、工、农、文、经、管、法、艺等多个学科门类，是国家林业和草原局与湖南省人民政府共建高校，也是湖南省国内一流大学建设高校。

Central South University of Forestry and Technology is a multidisciplinary university with profound historical heritage and distinctive characteristics. Its predecessor was Hunan Forestry College founded in 1958. After years of development and merger, it was officially renamed Central South University of Forestry and Technology in 2005. The university has advantages in forestry science, covering multiple disciplines such as science, engineering, agriculture, literature, economics, management, law, and art. It is a university jointly built by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the People's Government of Hunan Province, and also a university for building first-class universities in Hunan Province.

学校拥有长沙、株洲两个校区，校园总面积达1388亩，教学科研仪器设备总值超过4亿元。现有全日制在校学生3万余人，其中博士、硕士研究生5000余人。学校师资力量雄厚，教职工2300余人，其中高级职称人员900余人，拥有国家级人才、省级人才等各类高层次人才100余人次。

The university has two campuses in Changsha and Zhuzhou, with a total campus area of 1388 mu and a total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment exceeding 400 million yuan. 在学科建设方面，学校形成了以林学、林业工程、风景园林学为优势，生物科学、环境科学与工程等学科协调发展的学科体系。拥有6个博士后科研流动站，7个一级学科博士点，25个一级学科硕士点，16个硕士专业学位授权类别。其中，林学、林业工程入选国家“双一流”建设学科，风景园林学为湖南省国内一流建设学科。

In terms of discipline construction, the university has formed a discipline system with forestry, forestry engineering, and landscape architecture as advantages, and coordinated development of disciplines such as biological science, environmental science and engineering. It has 6 post-doctoral research stations, 7 first-level discipline doctoral programs, 25 first-level discipline master programs, and 16 master professional degree authorization categories. Among them, forestry and forestry engineering were selected into the national "Double First-Class" construction disciplines, and landscape architecture is a first-class construction discipline in Hunan Province.
