三峡大学是经国家教育部批准，由原武汉水利电力大学（宜昌）和原湖北三峡学院于2000年6月29日合并组建的一所综合性大学，是国家水利部和湖北省共建大学，湖北省“国内一流大学建设高校”，国家“中西部高校基础能力建设工程”高校。学校坐落于长江中上游分界点、世界水电之都——湖北省宜昌市。

China Three Gorges University (CTGU) is a comprehensive university established on June 29, 2000 with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It was formed by the merger of the former Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Engineering (Yichang) and the former Hubei Three Gorges University. CTGU is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Water Resources and Hubei Province, a "domestic first-class university construction university" in Hubei Province, and a university under the "Midwest University Basic Capacity Construction Project" of the state. The university is located in Yichang City, Hubei Province, the dividing point of the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River and the world's hydropower capital.

学校学科门类齐全，涵盖理、工、文、医、经、管、法、教、艺等9大学科门类，现有30个学院，78个本科专业。学校拥有水利工程、土木工程、电气工程等优势学科，其中水利工程学科在第四轮学科评估中获得B+等级，跻身全国前10%-20%行列。学校坚持以人才培养为中心，大力推进教育教学改革，着力培养具有创新精神和实践能力的高素质应用型人才。

The university has a complete range of disciplines, covering 9 disciplines including science, engineering, literature, medicine, economics, management, law, education, and art. It currently has 30 colleges and 78 undergraduate majors. The university has advantageous disciplines such as hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, and electrical engineering. Among them, the hydraulic engineering discipline received a B+ grade in the fourth round of discipline evaluation, ranking among the top 10%-20% in the country. The university adheres to talent training as the center, vigorously promotes education and teaching reform, and strives to cultivate high-quality applied talents with innovative spirit and practical ability.

学校师资力量雄厚，现有专任教师2000余人，其中教授、副教授1100余人，具有博士学位的教师1000余人。学校注重国际交流与合作，与40多个国家和地区的100多所高校建立了稳定的合作关系，开展了学生交换、联合培养、科研合作等多种形式的国际交流活动。学校校园环境优美，占地面积3000余亩，建筑面积140余万平方米，教学科研仪器设备总值达7.5亿元，图书馆纸质藏书290余万册，电子图书450余万册。

The university has a beautiful campus environment, covering an area of more than 3,000 mu, with a building area of more than 1.4 million square meters. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 750 million yuan. The library has more than 2.9 million paper books and more than 4.5 million electronic books.
