楚雄师范学院是2001年5月经教育部批准设立的全日制普通本科高校，其办学历史可追溯至1936年创建的省立镇南师范学校，是一所具有光荣革命传统和鲜明师范教育特色的高等院校。学校坐落于云南省楚雄彝族自治州州府楚雄市，距云南省会昆明100余公里，交通便利，校园环境优美。

Chuxiong Normal University is a full-time ordinary undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education in May 2001. Its educational history can be traced back to the Provincial Zhennan Normal School founded in 1936. It is an institution of higher learning with a glorious revolutionary tradition and distinct characteristics of normal education. The university is located in Chuxiong City, the capital of Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, more than 100 kilometers away from Kunming, the provincial capital, with convenient transportation and a beautiful campus environment.

学校面向全国25个省（自治区、直辖市）招收全日制本科学生，现有在校全日制本科学生15364人。目前有10个二级学院，共开设55个全日制本科专业，其中师范类专业21个，有国家级特色专业1个，国家级一流专业建设点2个，省级一流专业建设点11个。学校2009年被中央文明委授予“全国文明单位”荣誉称号，2017年被中央文明委授予第一届“全国文明校园”荣誉称号。

The university enrolls full-time undergraduate students from 25 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) across the country, with 15,364 full-time undergraduate students currently enrolled. There are 10 secondary colleges, offering 55 full-time undergraduate majors, including 21 normal majors, 1 national-level characteristic major, 2 national-level first-class professional construction sites, and 11 provincial-level first-class professional construction sites. In 2009, the university was awarded the honorary title of "National Civilized Unit" by the Central Civilization Commission, and in 2017, it was awarded the honorary title of the first "National Civilized Campus" by the Central Civilization Commission.
