大连海事大学（原大连海运学院）是交通运输部直属的全国重点大学，是国家“双一流”建设高校，国家“211工程”重点建设高校。学校素有“航海家的摇篮”之称，是中国著名的高等航海学府，也是被国际海事组织认定的世界上少数几所“享有国际盛誉”的海事院校之一。

Dalian Maritime University (formerly Dalian Maritime College) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Transport, a "Double First-Class" construction university, and a key university under the national "211 Project". Known as the "Cradle of Navigators", it is a famous higher maritime institution in China and one of the few maritime universities in the world recognized by the International Maritime Organization as "享有国际盛誉" (enjoying international reputation).

学校拥有深厚的历史底蕴，其前身可追溯至1909年设立的邮传部上海高等实业学堂船政科。百余年来，学校始终坚守“航海强国”的初心使命，为国家培养了大批航运领域的高级专门人才，被誉为“中国航运事业的黄埔军校”。

The university has a profound historical heritage, whose predecessor can be traced back to the Shipping Department of Shanghai Higher Industrial School of the Ministry of Posts and Communications established in 1909. For more than a hundred years, the university has always坚守 (adhered to) the original mission of "strengthening the country through navigation" and has cultivated a large number of senior professionals in the shipping field for the country, known as the "Whampoa Military Academy of China's shipping industry".

学校学科特色鲜明，以航运为特色，涵盖工学、管理学、经济学、法学、文学、理学、艺术学等多个学科门类。在航海技术、轮机工程、交通信息工程及控制等学科领域具有显著优势，形成了“航海类专业国内领先、相关学科协调发展”的学科布局。

The university has distinct disciplinary characteristics, with shipping as its feature, covering multiple disciplines such as engineering, management, economics, law, literature, science, and art. It has significant advantages in disciplines such as navigation technology, marine engineering, transportation information engineering and control, forming a disciplinary layout of "domestic leadership in navigation-related majors and coordinated development of related disciplines".
