Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is a long-established public research university in Germany, located in the cities of Erlangen and Nuremberg in the state of Bavaria. The university traces its roots to 1743 when it was founded in Bayreuth by Bavarian Elector Karl Theodor.
