大湾区大学（Great Bay University）是由广东省人民政府举办、东莞市人民政府投入保障的公办普通高等学校，2025年6月经教育部批准设立，同年8月正式开学，首届录取80名新生。学校定位为以理工科为主的高水平新型研究型大学，按照“一校两区”规划建设，松山湖校区与滨海湾校区总占地面积约2000亩，总建筑面积约100万平方米，致力于打造“教育教学”“科教产融合”“国际合作”三大功能平台。

Great Bay University (GBU) is a public higher education institution established by the People's Government of Guangdong Province and supported by the Dongguan Municipal People's Government. Approved by the Ministry of Education in June 2025, it officially opened in August of the same year with an inaugural class of 80 students. Positioned as a high-level new research university focusing on science and engineering, GBU operates under a "one university, two campuses" model, with a total area of approximately 2,000 mu (about 1.33 square kilometers) and a total construction area of around 1 million square meters across its Songshan Lake and Binhaiwan campuses. It aims to build three key platforms: "education and teaching," "industry-education-research integration," and "international cooperation."

学校首批设置数学与应用数学、物理学、材料科学与工程、计算机科学与技术、工业工程5个本科专业，实行大类招生与分类培养模式，依托松山湖科学城的大科学装置（如散裂中子源）和先进材料实验室，构建“学校+科研机构+龙头企业”的协同创新体系，重点开展先进结构材料、能源催化材料、半导体器件等前沿领域研究。

GBU's initial undergraduate programs include Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, and Industrial Engineering. It adopts a comprehensive enrollment and differentiated training model, leveraging the large-scale scientific facilities (such as the Spallation Neutron Source) and advanced materials laboratories in Songshan Lake Science City to build a collaborative innovation system of "university + research institutions + leading enterprises." The university focuses on cutting-edge research in advanced structural materials, energy catalytic materials, semiconductor devices, and other frontier fields.
