广东理工职业学院是以工科为主、文理兼融的省属公办高等职业院校，与广东开放大学实行“两块牌子，一套班子”的管理体制，资源共享，优势互补。学校成立于2005年，2021年入选省域高水平高等职业院校建设计划建设单位，2022年与广东省理工职业技术学校实施集团办学。学校获批为省博士工作站，是教育部现代学徒制试点单位，是省1+X证书制度试点工作办公室和广东终身教育学分银行落户单位，是广东省依法治校示范校、广东省绿色学校和全国高职服务贡献典型学校。

Guangdong Polytechnic Institute is a public higher vocational college under the provincial government, focusing on engineering with integration of arts and sciences. It operates under the management system of "two brands, one team" with Guangdong Open University, sharing resources and complementing advantages. Founded in 2005, the institute was selected as a construction unit of the Provincial High-level Higher Vocational College Construction Plan in 2021, and implemented group education with Guangdong Polytechnic Vocational and Technical School in 2022. It has been approved as a Provincial Doctoral Workstation, a pilot unit of the Ministry of Education's Modern Apprenticeship System, the office of the Provincial 1+X Certificate System Pilot Work, and the location of Guangdong Lifelong Education Credit Bank. It is also a Model School for Law-based Governance in Guangdong, a Green School in Guangdong, and a National Model School for Service Contribution in Higher Vocational Education.

学校设有广州校本部、白云山校区、中山校区和南海校区，现有在校生1.7万人。秉承“自强立德、经世致用”的校训，坚持“职业教育是面向人人的终身教育”的办学理念、“一体两翼三化”的发展战略和“依法治校、创新强校、人才兴校、开放办校、技术立校、质量荣校”的发展思路，统筹职业教育、高等教育、继续教育协同创新，开设高职教育专业47个，其中国家级骨干专业2个、全国示范专业1个、省级高水平专业群4个，形成以工科为重点、多学科协调发展的专业布局。

The institute has four campuses: Guangzhou Main Campus, Baiyunshan Campus, Zhongshan Campus, and Nanhai Campus, with 17,000 students. Adhering to the school motto of "Self-improvement, Moral Cultivation, and Practical Application", it adheres to the educational philosophy of "vocational education is lifelong education for everyone", the development strategy of "One Body, Two Wings, Three Orientations", and the development ideas of "governing the school by law, strengthening the school through innovation, invigorating the school with talents, running the school openly, establishing the school with technology, and honoring the school with quality".
