桂林师范学院是国家教育部批准成立的公办全日制普通本科院校，前身为创建于1938年的广西省立桂林师范学校，具有光荣的革命传统，被誉为“桂北革命的摇篮”。2000年经教育部批准改制为桂林师范高等专科学校，2025年2月升格为本科院校并更名为桂林师范学院。学校坚定以培养优质小学教育和学前教育师资为主的办学方向，坚持“做优教师教育类专业，做大艺术类专业，做强应用型专业”，形成了鲜明的教师教育和艺术教育办学特色。

Guilin Normal University is a public full-time ordinary undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. Its predecessor was Guangxi Provincial Guilin Normal School founded in 1938, which has a glorious revolutionary tradition and is known as "the cradle of the revolution in northern Guangxi". In 2000, it was restructured into Guilin Normal College with the approval of the Ministry of Education, and in February 2025, it was upgraded to an undergraduate institution and renamed Guilin Normal University. The university firmly focuses on cultivating high-quality primary education and preschool education teachers, adhering to the principle of "optimizing teacher education majors, expanding art majors, and strengthening applied majors", forming distinct school-running characteristics of teacher education and art education.

学校设有10个教学院系和1个公共教学部，开设5个专业群、41个专业，首批设置小学教育、学前教育、科学教育、音乐学、美术学等5个普通本科专业，面向全国16个省（自治区、直辖市）招生，全日制在校生11493人。校园占地面积1145.76亩，校舍总建筑面积40.74万平方米，教学科研仪器设备总值25124.80万元，馆藏中文纸质图书131.7万册、电子图书149.9万册。

The university has 10 teaching departments and 1 public teaching department, offering 5 professional groups and 41 majors. The first batch of 5 ordinary undergraduate majors includes Primary Education, Preschool Education, Science Education, Musicology, and Fine Arts. It enrolls students from 16 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) across the country, with 11,493 full-time students. The campus covers an area of 1,145.76 mu, with a total building area of 407,400 square meters. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 251.248 million yuan, with 1.317 million Chinese paper books and 1.499 million e-books in the library.
