重庆理工大学是重庆市重点建设高校，是西南地区唯一一所具有兵工背景的普通高等本科院校。学校溯源于1940年9月18日成立的兵工署第11技工学校，历经重庆工业管理学院、重庆工学院等发展阶段，2009年更名为重庆理工大学。学校以工为主，工、理、文、管、经、法、医、艺等学科协调发展，是国家首批“新工科研究与实践项目”入选高校，重庆市“国内一流学科建设高校”。

Chongqing University of Technology is a key university in Chongqing and the only ordinary undergraduate institution with a military industry background in Southwest China. Tracing its roots to the 11th Technical School of the Ordnance Department founded on September 18, 1940, the university has gone through stages of development such as Chongqing Institute of Industrial Management and Chongqing Institute of Technology, and was renamed Chongqing University of Technology in 2009. With engineering as its main focus, the university features coordinated development of disciplines including engineering, science, liberal arts, management, economics, law, medicine, and art. It is among the first batch of universities selected for the "New Engineering Research and Practice Project" by the state and a "domestic first-class discipline construction university" in Chongqing.

学校现有花溪、两江、杨家坪等3个校区，总占地面积2591亩，校舍建筑面积113万平方米。拥有全日制本科生、研究生、留学生等近3万人，教职工2200余人，其中高级职称教师800余人，博士学位教师900余人，国家高层次人才、重庆市学术技术带头人等各级各类人才160余人次。学校设有21个学院，开设67个本科专业，拥有一级学科博士学位授权点2个，一级学科硕士学位授权点19个，硕士专业学位授权类别15个。

The university currently has three campuses: Huaxi, Liangjiang, and Yangjiaping, covering a total area of 2,591 mu with a building area of 1.13 million square meters. It has nearly 30,000 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates, and international students, as well as over 2,200 faculty members, including more than 800 with senior professional titles, over 900 with doctoral degrees, and more than 160 talents at various levels such as national high-level talents and academic and technical leaders in Chongqing. The university has 21 colleges offering 67 undergraduate programs, with 2 first-level discipline doctoral programs, 19 first-level discipline master programs, and 15 professional master degree categories.
