甘肃警察学院创建于1949年9月，前身为甘肃人民公安学校。1978年9月恢复建立甘肃省公安学校，1980年9月更名为甘肃省人民警察学校，2001年7月升格为专科层次公安高等职业学院，2024年5月升格为本科层次的公安高等院校，隶属甘肃省公安厅管理，省教育厅对其办学活动实施指导和监督。

Gansu Police College was founded in September 1949, formerly known as Gansu People's Public Security School. In September 1978, it was restored and established as Gansu Public Security School with the approval of the Gansu Provincial People's Government. In September 1980, it was renamed Gansu People's Police School. In July 2001, it was upgraded to a higher vocational college. In May 2024, it was upgraded to an undergraduate-level public security higher education institution. It is affiliated to the Gansu Provincial Public Security Department and supervised by the Gansu Provincial Department of Education.

学院现有兰州市城关区左家湾和皋兰县魏家庄两个校区，占地面积近2000亩，校舍建筑面积20多万平方米。开设公安本科专业8个、管理学和法学本科专业2个，在招专科专业15个，建有15个校内实训场馆、26个实验实训室和55个校外实践实习基地，教学仪器设备总值8000万元，馆藏图书70余万册。现有专任教师376人，其中副高级专业技术职称以上114人，具有研究生学历的184人，省部级教学名师、高层次人才28人。

The college has two campuses in Zuojiawan, Chengguan District and Weijiazhuang, Gaolan County, covering an area of nearly 2000 mu with a building area of over 200,000 square meters. It offers 8 undergraduate programs in public security, 2 undergraduate programs in management and law, and 15 junior college programs. The college has 15 on-campus training venues, 26 laboratories, and 55 off-campus practice bases, with teaching equipment worth 80 million yuan and a collection of over 700,000 books. There are 376 full-time teachers, including 114 with associate senior titles or above, 184 with postgraduate degrees, and 28 provincial-level teaching masters and high-level talents.

学院坚持“政治建警、政治建校”办学方针，形成本科教育与专科教育相互补充、学历教育与民警培训协同发展的办学格局，是甘肃及西北公安司法机关专门人才培养的重要基地和补充人民警察的主要渠道，已为西北及全国公安、司法、安保部门培养输送近3万名专业警务人才，培训公安民警和相关行业在职干部15万人次。

Adhering to the school-running policy of "building the police and the school through politics", the college has formed a school-running pattern where undergraduate education and junior college education complement each other, and academic education and police training develop coordinately. It is an important base for training specialized talents for public security and judicial organs in Gansu and Northwest China, and a main channel for supplementing the people's police. It has trained and transported nearly 30,000 professional police talents for public security, judicial and security departments in Northwest China and the whole country, and trained 150,000 in-service police officers and cadres in related industries.
