北苏门答腊大学（Universitas Sumatera Utara, 简称USU）成立于1952年6月4日，位于印度尼西亚北苏门答腊省首府棉兰市，是印尼教育部直属的公立大学，也是该国最好的综合性公立大学之一。2023年QS世界大学排名位列1201位，亚洲大学排名第451-500位。学校拥有15个学院，涵盖73个本科专业、44个硕士专业及24个博士专业，在校生规模近6.7万人，学科领域包括医学、工程、自然科学、社会科学等，其中医学类专业（如临床医学、口腔医学）在印尼享有较高声誉。学校致力于培养学生应对全球挑战的能力，校友在科技、企业管理和领导力领域表现突出，师资队伍由教授及博士、硕士资格讲师组成，提供高质量教育与研究支持。

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) was founded on June 4, 1952, located in Medan, the capital city of North Sumatra Province, Indonesia. As a public university directly under the Ministry of Education of Indonesia, it is recognized as one of the top comprehensive public universities in the country. In the 2023 QS World University Rankings, USU was ranked 1201st globally and placed within the 451-500 band in the QS Asia University Rankings. The university comprises 15 faculties, offering 73 undergraduate programs, 44 master's programs, and 24 doctoral programs, with a student enrollment of nearly 67,000. Its academic disciplines span medicine, engineering, natural sciences, and social sciences, among others, with medical-related programs (such as clinical medicine and dentistry) enjoying high prestige in Indonesia. 北苏门答腊大学的前身是1952年由北苏门答腊省省长阿卜杜勒·哈基姆·哈拉哈普主导成立的大学基金会，其医学院于同年8月20日率先招生，成为该校首个学院。1957年，苏加诺总统为USU主持揭幕，使其成为印尼第七所国立大学；2018年，学校转型为法人实体州立大学（PTN-BH）。校园占地120公顷，学术区面积达90公顷，配备图书馆、200多个实验室及信息技术基础设施，支持教学与研究活动。该校积极推进国际化，与北京外国语大学、华中师范大学等中国高校建立合作关系，学位获中国教育部留学服务中心认证，毕业生在印尼及国际就业市场具备竞争力。

The predecessor of USU was the university foundation established in 1952 under the initiative of Abdul Hakim Harahap, then Governor of North Sumatra. Its Faculty of Medicine admitted the first batch of students on August 20, 1952, becoming the university's first faculty. In 1957, President Sukarno inaugurated USU, making it the seventh national university in Indonesia. In 2018, USU was transformed into a Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH). The campus covers an area of 120 hectares, with the academic zone spanning 90 hectares, equipped with libraries, over 200 laboratories, and information technology infrastructure to support teaching and research activities. The university actively promotes internationalization, establishing partnerships with Chinese universities such as Beijing Foreign Studies University and Central China Normal University. Its degrees are accredited by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), and graduates are competitive in both Indonesian and international job markets.
