广西工业职业技术学院于2003年8月由原广西南宁化工学校和广西轻工业学校合并升格成立，由广西壮族自治区人民政府举办，行政主管部门是广西壮族自治区工业和信息化厅，教育教学业务接受广西壮族自治区教育厅的指导和管理。学校是高职高专院校人才培养工作水平评估优秀学校、广西示范性高等职业院校重点培育单位、广西高水平高职学校和高水平专业建设计划立项单位。2013年10月，贵港职业学院并入。原广西轻工业学校始建于1956年，原广西南宁化工学校始建于1958年，原贵港职业学院的前身系贵县师范学校，其创建历史可追溯至1904年创建的贵县高等小学堂。

Guangxi Vocational & Technical Institute of Industry was established in August 2003 by the merger and upgrading of the former Guangxi Nanning Chemical School and Guangxi Light Industry School. It is sponsored by the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with the administrative department being the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and its educational and teaching business is under the guidance and management of the Department of Education of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The school is an excellent school in the talent training level evaluation of higher vocational colleges, a key cultivation unit of Guangxi示范性 higher vocational colleges, and a project-approved unit of Guangxi high-level vocational schools and high-level professional construction plan. In October 2013, Guigang Vocational College was merged into it. The former Guangxi Light Industry School was founded in 1956, the former Guangxi Nanning Chemical School was founded in 1958, and the predecessor of the former Guigang Vocational College was Guixian Normal School, whose founding history can be traced back to Guixian Higher Primary School founded in 1904.

学校现有全日制在校学生2.9万余人，校园总占地面积近2000亩，资产总值23.33亿元，其中教学科研仪器设备总值3.43亿元。设有三个校区，分别位于南宁市秀灵路37号（南宁校区）、贵港市桂林路1118号（贵港校区）和南宁市武鸣区凤鸣路83号（武鸣校区）。学校立足广西，面向全国，辐射东盟，依托“一带一路”倡议和工业强桂战略，服务传统产业转型升级、战略性新兴产业发展壮大及制造业数字化、网络化、智能化发展，致力于建成以石油化工、食品制糖为特色，以工业制造为主体的高水平高等职业学校。

The school currently has more than 29,000 full-time students, with a total campus area of nearly 2,000 mu and a total asset value of 2.333 billion yuan, including 343 million yuan worth of teaching and research instruments and equipment. It has three campuses located at 37 Xiuling Road, Nanning (Nanning Campus), 1118 Guilin Road, Guigang (Guigang Campus), and 83 Fengming Road, Wuming District, Nanning (Wuming Campus). Based in Guangxi, facing the whole country and radiating to ASEAN, relying on the "the Belt and Road" initiative and the strategy of strengthening Guangxi through industry, the school serves the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, the development and growth of strategic emerging industries, and the digital, networked and intelligent development of manufacturing industry. It is committed to building a high-level higher vocational school featuring petrochemical industry and food sugar-making, with industrial manufacturing as the main body.

学校现有14个二级学院，开设有石油化工、制糖食品、装备制造、电子信息、建筑工程、电力系统、经济与管理等专业类别的高职专业58个。拥有中央财政支持的国家职业教育实训基地2个，石油和化工行业职业教育与培训全国示范性实训基地1个，自治区示范性高等职业教育实训基地6个。专任教师中，正高职称53人，副教授及副高职称182人，具有博士、硕士学位575人，双师型素质教师占专业课教师的82.3%。

The school currently has 14 secondary colleges, offering 58 higher vocational majors in professional categories such as petrochemical engineering, sugar-making food, equipment manufacturing, electronic information, construction engineering, power systems, economy and management. It has 2 national vocational education training bases supported by the central finance, 1 national demonstration training base for vocational education and training in the petroleum and chemical industry, and 6 autonomous region-level demonstration higher vocational education training bases. Among the full-time teachers, there are 53 with senior professional titles, 182 with associate senior professional titles, 575 with doctoral and master's degrees, and double-qualified teachers account for 82.3% of the professional course teachers.
