广州铁路职业技术学院前身为1974年5月22日成立的原铁道部广州铁路机械学校。2000年6月，经广东省人民政府批准，由广州铁路机械学校、广州铁路运输职工大学与广州铁路成人中等专业学校合并升格为全日制公办高等职业院校。2004年9月，学校由广州铁路（集团）公司移交广州市人民政府举办。

Guangzhou Railway Polytechnic originated from the former Guangzhou Railway Machinery School of the Ministry of Railways, which was founded on May 22, 1974. In June 2000, approved by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, it was upgraded to a full-time public higher vocational college through the merger of Guangzhou Railway Machinery School, Guangzhou Railway Transportation Workers' University, and Guangzhou Railway Adult Secondary Professional School. In September 2004, the school was transferred to the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government for management from Guangzhou Railway (Group) Corporation.

学校现为国家“双高计划”建设单位、国家示范（骨干）高等职业院校、国家优质专科高等职业院校，是广东省唯一轨道交通类公办高职院校。现有科教城、石门、执信南三个校区，占地面积800余亩，开设铁道供电技术、城市轨道交通运营管理等38个专业，在校学生12000余人。

The college is currently a national "Double High Plan" construction unit, a national demonstration (backbone) higher vocational college, and a national high-quality junior college. It is the only public vocational college specializing in rail transit in Guangdong Province. With three campuses (Science and Education City, Shimen, and Zhixin South), covering an area of over 800 mu, it offers 38 majors including Railway Power Supply Technology and Urban Rail Transit Operation Management, with more than 12,000 students enrolled.

学校师资力量雄厚，专任教师中具有研究生学位者占86.1%，高级职称教师占32.8%，双师素质教师占比78.1%。拥有国家级职业教育教师教学创新团队1支、国家级课程思政教学团队1支，荣获全国职业院校就业竞争力示范校、中国职业教育就业百强等多项荣誉称号。

The college boasts a strong teaching faculty, with 86.1% of full-time teachers holding postgraduate degrees, 32.8% having senior professional titles, and 78.1% being "double-qualified" teachers. It has 1 national vocational education teacher teaching innovation team and 1 national curriculum ideological and political teaching team, and has been honored with titles such as National Vocational College Employment Competitiveness Model School and Top 100 Employment in China's Vocational Education.
