湖北工程职业学院地处黄石市，是经湖北省人民政府批准设立的全日制公办普通高等学校，隶属于黄石市人民政府。学校创始于1964年，近60年栉风沐雨的稳步发展奠定了学校厚积薄发的坚实基础，先后被评为全国职业教育先进单位、全国职业指导工作先进学校、全国机械行业合作培养高素质技能人才创新学校、全省高技能人才培养示范性基地，连续14年被评为湖北省文明单位。

Hubei Engineering Vocational College is located in Huangshi City. It is a full-time public ordinary higher education institution approved by the Hubei Provincial People's Government and affiliated to the Huangshi Municipal People's Government. Founded in 1964, the school has achieved steady development through nearly 60 years of trials and hardships, laying a solid foundation for its accumulated progress. It has successively been rated as an Advanced Unit in National Vocational Education, an Advanced School in National Vocational Guidance Work, an Innovative School in the National Machinery Industry for Cooperatively Cultivating High-quality Skilled Talents, a Provincial Demonstrative Base for High-skilled Talent Cultivation, and has been rated as a Civilized Unit in Hubei Province for 14 consecutive years.

学校坚持围绕产业链调整专业链、围绕专业链建设课程链、围绕课程链培育人才链，对接产业地图，优化专业布局，目前设有智能制造学院、电子信息学院、工业互联网学院、建筑与环境艺术学院、交通与物流学院、经贸与管理学院、教育学院、医卫学院8个二级学院，开设了46个专业及方向。学校师资力量雄厚，教职工近700人，其中，享受国务院特殊津贴专家2人，全国优秀教师、模范教师4人，市级名师39人，教授、客座教授25人，楚天技能名师35人，省级名师9人，博士、硕士192人，市级以上学科带头人23人，黄石突出贡献专家5人，双师型教师143人。
