湖北开放职业学院是经湖北省人民政府批准建立，并报国家教育部批准备案，具有高等学历教育招生资格的全日制普通高等学校。其前身湖北函授大学创办于1984年，是我国改革开放初期成立的第一所民办大学，2002年5月正式更名为湖北开放职业学院，转为普通高校，主要承担全日制高等职业教育，同时开展成人高等教育、继续教育等。

Hubei Open Vocational College is a full-time ordinary higher education institution approved by the Hubei Provincial People's Government and registered with the Ministry of Education, qualified for higher education enrollment. Its predecessor, Hubei Correspondence University, was founded in 1984 as the first private university established in the early stage of China's reform and opening up. In May 2002, it was officially renamed Hubei Open Vocational College and transformed into an ordinary college, mainly undertaking full-time higher vocational education while carrying out adult higher education and continuing education.

学校坐落于武汉东湖之滨，地处东湖高新技术开发区“中国光谷”核心区域，形成“一校两区”办学格局，校本部与东湖校区交通便利、环境优美。秉持“修德、求知、强能、报国”校训，倡导“立德树人、博爱诚信、精技强能、开拓创新”校风，构建了以全日制专科教育为主，涵盖普通高等教育、成人高等教育、继续教育的人才培养体系，下设9个二级学院，开设理、工、文、经、管等六大类约30个专业，重点建设模具设计与制造、通信技术、物流管理等特色专业。

Located on the bank of East Lake in Wuhan, the college is situated in the core area of "China Optics Valley" in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone, forming a "one college, two campuses" school-running pattern. The main campus and East Lake campus enjoy convenient transportation and beautiful environment. Upholding the school motto of "Cultivating Morality, Seeking Knowledge, Strengthening Abilities, and Serving the Country" and advocating the school spirit of "Establishing Morality, Fraternity and Integrity, Mastering Skills, and Pioneering Innovation", it has built a talent training system focusing on full-time college education, covering ordinary higher education, adult higher education and continuing education. It has 9 secondary colleges, offering about 30 majors in six categories including science, engineering, liberal arts, economics and management, with key construction of characteristic majors such as Mold Design and Manufacturing, Communication Technology, and Logistics Management.

学校坚持开放办学理念，深化产教融合、校企合作，与武汉东湖高新技术开发区共建人才培养体系，创办武汉天歌电子有限公司等实训基地，为学生提供学工结合平台；重视国际交流，与美国、加拿大、泰国等多所国外高校建立合作关系。建校以来，已培养各类毕业生八万余人，2006年通过教育部高职高专人才培养工作水平评估，2009年被纳入武汉东湖高新区人才培养体系，每年为区域输送2000余名技能型人才。

Adhering to the concept of open education, the college deepens industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation,共建s a talent training system with Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, and establishes training bases such as Wuhan Tiange Electronics Co., Ltd. to provide students with a platform for integrating learning and working. It attaches importance to international exchanges and has established cooperative relations with many foreign universities in the United States, Canada, Thailand, etc. Since its establishment, it has trained more than 80,000 graduates of various types. In 2006, it passed the evaluation of the talent training level of higher vocational colleges by the Ministry of Education. In 2009, it was included in the talent training system of Wuhan East Lake High-tech Zone,输送ing more than 2,000 skilled talents to the region every year.
