Hubei Minzu University is an ordinary undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education, mainly focusing on undergraduate education. It is a key construction university in Hubei Province and a joint university co-constructed by the Hubei Provincial Government and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission. Adhering to the school motto of "Erudition, Fraternity, Cultivating People, and Achieving People" and the spirit of "working hard, being willing to contribute, constantly striving for self-improvement, and pursuing excellence", the university adheres to the school-running orientation of "based in Hubei, facing the west, radiating the whole country, and serving the grassroots", and always practices the school-running purpose of "serving ethnic minorities and ethnic regions, and serving the national development strategy".

学校地处神奇美丽的恩施土家族苗族自治州，校园依山傍水，与龙洞河美景交相辉映。其历史溯源于1938年建立的湖北省立联中乡村师范分校，历经多次调整与合并，2018年11月经教育部批准更名为湖北民族大学。现设有20个学院（部），67个本科专业，涵盖十大学科门类；拥有8个一级学科硕士点、11个专业学位硕士点，形成了较为完备的人才培养体系。

Located in the magical and beautiful Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, the campus is surrounded by mountains and rivers, reflecting the beautiful scenery of Longdong River. Its history can be traced back to the Rural Normal Branch of Hubei Provincial United Middle School established in 1938. After many adjustments and mergers, it was renamed Hubei Minzu University with the approval of the Ministry of Education in November 2018. Currently, it has 20 colleges (departments) and 67 undergraduate majors, covering ten disciplines; it has 8 first-level discipline master's programs and 11 professional degree master's programs, forming a relatively complete talent training system.

学校师资力量雄厚，教学科研仪器设备价值3.71亿元，藏书210余万册。近年来，获省部级及以上科研奖励28项，承担国家级科研项目140项，为国家和地方经济社会发展培养了十万余名各类专业技术人才，赢得了“全国民族团结进步模范集体”等多项荣誉称号。

The university has a strong faculty, with teaching and research instruments and equipment worth 371 million yuan and a collection of more than 2.1 million books. In recent years, it has won 28 scientific research awards at or above the provincial and ministerial level and undertaken 140 national-level scientific research projects. It has trained more than 100,000 professional and technical personnel of various types for national and local economic and social development, and has won many honorary titles such as "National Model Collective for National Unity and Progress".
