湖北艺术职业学院坐落于九省通衢的江城武汉，现有虎泉、街道口、石牌岭三个校区，是湖北省人民政府主办、湖北省文化和旅游厅主管的省属事业单位，全国首批重点艺术职业院校、湖北省文化艺术人才培训基地、湖北省非物质文化遗产研究中心、湖北艺术职业教育集团牵头单位。2021年，获批立项建设省级高水平高职学校，舞蹈表演、音乐艺术立项建设省级高水平专业群。

Hubei Vocational College of Art is located in Wuhan, the thoroughfare of nine provinces, with three campuses: Huquan, Jiedaokou and Shipailing. It is a provincial public institution sponsored by the People's Government of Hubei Province and administered by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Hubei Province. It is among the first batch of national key art vocational colleges, a training base for cultural and artistic talents in Hubei Province, a research center for intangible cultural heritage in Hubei Province, and the leading unit of Hubei Art Vocational Education Group. In 2021, it was approved to build a provincial high-level vocational school, with dance performance and music art approved to build provincial high-level professional groups.

学校创办于1958年，前身为湖北省戏曲学校。1988年更名为湖北省艺术学校，先后被评为省级和国家级重点中专。历经湖北省艺术学校、湖北省文化艺术干部学校和湖北省电影职工中等专业学校三校合并，2003年经湖北省人民政府批准，正式升格为独立的湖北艺术职业学院。学校设有传媒学院、设计学院、舞蹈学院、戏曲学院、艺术教育学院、音乐学院6个二级专业学院，湖北省艺术研究院、湖北省青年实验艺术团、中职部（湖北省艺术学校）3个直属单位。

Founded in 1958, the school was formerly known as Hubei Opera School. In 1988, it was renamed Hubei Art School and was successively rated as a provincial and national key secondary school. After the merger of Hubei Art School, Hubei Cultural and Art Cadre School and Hubei Film Workers Secondary Professional School, it was officially upgraded to an independent Hubei Vocational College of Art with the approval of the People's Government of Hubei Province in 2003. The school has 6 secondary professional colleges, namely the School of Media, School of Design, School of Dance, School of Opera, School of Art Education, and School of Music, as well as 3 directly affiliated units: Hubei Art Research Institute, Hubei Youth Experimental Art Troupe, and Secondary Vocational Department (Hubei Art School).

经过60余年的探索，形成了以人才培养为中心，舞台表演、艺术创作、文化研究为支撑的办学模式，形成涵盖高职与中职、学历教育与职业培训、境内与境外合作的办学格局。学校开设有音乐表演、舞蹈表演、戏剧影视表演、人物形象设计等近30个高职专业，戏曲表演、舞蹈表演、音乐表演、绘画等多个中职专业。舞蹈表演和戏曲表演为中央财政支持的重点专业；音乐表演（湖北民歌）、戏曲表演和舞蹈表演（中国舞）为国家级民族文化传承与创新示范专业。

After more than 60 years of exploration, it has formed a school-running mode centered on talent training and supported by stage performance, artistic creation and cultural research, covering higher vocational and secondary vocational education, academic education and vocational training, and domestic and foreign cooperation. The school offers nearly 30 higher vocational majors such as music performance, dance performance, drama and film performance, and character image design, as well as multiple secondary vocational majors such as opera performance, dance performance, music performance and painting. Dance performance and opera performance are key majors supported by the central finance; Music performance (Hubei folk songs), opera performance and dance performance (Chinese dance) are national demonstration majors for the inheritance and innovation of national culture.

学校现有高职生8394人，中职生768人。现有专任教师200人，其中高级职称占比43.5%，研究生及以上水平人员占比57.5%，双师型教师比例达到77%。建校至今，为社会培养了一批又一批优秀文化艺术人才，为繁荣地方文化艺术事业做出了突出贡献。近年来，学生多次获得全国国标舞锦标赛一等奖等多项国家级大奖。

The school currently has 8394 higher vocational students and 768 secondary vocational students. There are 200 full-time teachers, among whom 43.5% have senior professional titles, 57.5% have graduate degrees or above, and 77% are double-qualified teachers. Since its establishment, it has cultivated batches of excellent cultural and artistic talents for the society and made outstanding contributions to the prosperity of local cultural and artistic undertakings. In recent years, students have won many national awards such as the first prize of the National Ballroom Dance Championship for many times.
