河北医科大学是河北省重点骨干大学，是河北省人民政府、原国家卫生计生委、教育部共建大学。初名北洋医学堂，1894年由直隶总督兼北洋大臣李鸿章于天津创办，1913年开始招收本科生；1949年4月更名为河北医学院；1995年，原河北医学院、河北中医学院、石家庄医学高等专科学校三校合并为河北医科大学；2013年河北中医学院恢复独立建制；2016年，河北省人民政府、原国家卫生计生委、教育部正式签署共建河北医科大学协议。学校秉承“崇德、敬业、谨严、创新”的优良校风，历经130年发展，已成为集教学、科研、医疗为一体的综合性医科大学，校训为“明德博学 行方智圆”，办学理念是“学生为本 教师为先”。

Hebei Medical University is a key backbone university in Hebei Province, co-constructed by the People's Government of Hebei Province, the former National Health and Family Planning Commission, and the Ministry of Education. Originally named Beiyang Medical School, it was founded in Tianjin in 1894 by Li Hongzhang, Governor of Zhili and Minister of Beiyang. It began enrolling undergraduates in 1913; renamed Hebei Medical College in April 1949; merged with Hebei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shijiazhuang Medical College to form Hebei Medical University in 1995; Hebei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine resumed its independent status in 2013; and in 2016, the People's Government of Hebei Province, the former National Health and Family Planning Commission, and the Ministry of Education formally signed an agreement to co-construct Hebei Medical University. Adhering to the fine school spirit of "Virtue, Dedication, Prudence, Innovation" and after 130 years of development, it has become a comprehensive medical university integrating teaching, scientific research, and medical care, with the school motto "Virtue, Erudition, Integrity, Wisdom" and the educational philosophy "Student-Oriented, Teacher-First".

学校现有两个校区、五所直属医院，下设20个二级学院，28个本科专业，其中国家级特色专业4个，省级特色专业4个，15个专业入选国家一流本科专业建设点。拥有全日制在校生18209人，教职工1.9万余人（含直属医院），其中中国工程院院士5人，博士生导师566人。建有6个博士后科研流动站，7个博士学位授权一级学科，6个学科进入ESI全球排名前1%。学校不仅是河北省的医学教育、医疗救治中心，也是河北省的医学研究中心，先后与14个国家或地区的36所医学院校和科研机构开展国际交流合作。

The university currently has two campuses, five affiliated hospitals, 20 secondary colleges, and 28 undergraduate majors, including 4 national-level characteristic majors, 4 provincial-level characteristic majors, and 15 majors selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites. It has 18,209 full-time students and more than 19,000 faculty and staff (including affiliated hospitals), including 5 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and 566 doctoral supervisors. There are 6 post-doctoral research stations, 7 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, and 6 disciplines ranked in the top 1% of ESI globally. It is not only the medical education and treatment center in Hebei Province but also the medical research center, having carried out international exchanges and cooperation with 36 medical colleges and scientific research institutions in 14 countries or regions.
