呼和浩特民族学院是内蒙古自治区重点建设院校、自治区人民政府和国家民委共建高校、教育部对口支援西部地区计划高校，全国民族团结进步示范学校。学校始建于1953年，前身为内蒙古蒙文专科学校和内蒙古民族师范学校，2000年合并组建内蒙古民族高等专科学校，2009年升格为本科院校并更名为呼和浩特民族学院，2016年通过教育部新建本科院校合格评估。2023年成为自治区十四五时期应用型转型高校、自治区人员总量控制试点高校，2024年获批为新增硕士学位授予单位。

Hohhot Minzu College is a key construction institution of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, a university co-constructed by the People's Government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, a university under the Ministry of Education's counterpart support program for western regions, and a national model school for ethnic unity and progress. Founded in 1953, the school was formerly known as Inner Mongolia Mongolian Language College and Inner Mongolia Normal School for Nationalities. In 2000, it merged to form Inner Mongolia College for Nationalities. In 2009, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed Hohhot Minzu College. In 2016, it passed the qualification assessment for newly-built undergraduate colleges by the Ministry of Education. In 2023, it became an application-oriented transformation university during the 14th Five-Year Plan period of the autonomous region and a pilot university for total personnel control in the autonomous region. In 2024, it was approved as a new master's degree-granting unit.

学校坚持质量立校、人才强校、特色兴校、依法治校的办学理念，秉承“崇正、尚智、务本、传承”校训，坚持地方性、应用型办学定位，着力打造特色鲜明的区域高水平应用型民族大学。现设18个教学单位，开设44个本科专业，涵盖8个学科门类，构建了理工、师范、商管、艺体、语言等专业群。现有国家民委重点学科2个、重点建设学科2个、自治区提质培育学科1个、硕士专业学位授权点3个，国家一流本科专业建设点2个、自治区一流本科专业建设点9个。

Adhering to the school-running philosophy of "establishing the school with quality, strengthening the school with talents, prospering the school with characteristics, and running the school according to law", the university upholds the school motto of "Upholding Integrity, Respecting Wisdom, Focusing on Fundamentals, and Inheriting Heritage", adheres to the local and application-oriented school-running orientation, and strives to build a regionally high-level application-oriented ethnic university with distinctive characteristics. It currently has 18 teaching units, offering 44 undergraduate majors covering 8 disciplines, and has constructed professional groups such as science and engineering, normal education, business management, art and sports, and languages. It has 2 key disciplines of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, 2 key construction disciplines, 1 quality-improving and nurturing discipline of the autonomous region, 3 professional master's degree authorization points, 2 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 9 autonomous region first-class undergraduate major construction sites.

学校现有教职工706人，其中专任教师526人，专任教师中具有硕士学位以上教师占比89.16%，博士学位教师占比27.57%，副高及以上职称占比45.06%。面向22个省市招生，全日制本科在校生10035人。建有自治区级实验教学示范中心2个、人才实训基地1个，校内实践教学平台103个、校外实践教学基地332个。近年来，学生在各级各类竞赛中获奖486项，其中国家级奖项232项，2023年在中国国际大学生创新大赛中实现国赛金奖零的突破。

The university currently has 706 faculty members, including 526 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 89.16% have a master's degree or above, 27.57% have a doctoral degree, and 45.06% have associate senior titles or above. It enrolls students from 22 provinces and cities, with 10,035 full-time undergraduate students. It has 2 autonomous region-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 talent training base, 103 on-campus practical teaching platforms, and 332 off-campus practical teaching bases. In recent years, students have won 486 awards in various competitions at all levels, including 232 national awards, and achieved a breakthrough of zero national gold awards in the China International College Students' Innovation Competition in 2023.
