哈尔滨医科大学坐落在北国冰城哈尔滨，是一所历史文化底蕴深厚的医学高等学府，由我国现代医学先驱伍连德博士于1926年创办的滨江医学专门学校（1938年更名为哈尔滨医科大学）和前身为中国共产党于1931年在江西瑞金创建的中国工农红军军医学校原兴山（现鹤岗市）中国医科大学第一、二分校组建而成。学校历经近百年的发展建设，传承伍连德博士赤诚爱国、自强创业的精神，发扬中国工农红军军医学校政治坚定、技术优良的光荣传统，秉承“木直中绳、博学载医”的校训，践行“坚持为学生学者办学立校，坚定以学术学风兴学强校”的办学理念，综合实力不断增强，具有相当的发展规模和鲜明的办学特色。

Harbin Medical University is located in Harbin, the ice city in northern China. It is a medical institution of higher learning with profound historical and cultural heritage. Founded in 1926 by Dr. Wu Liande, a pioneer of modern medicine in China, as Binjiang Medical School (renamed Harbin Medical University in 1938), it was later merged with the former First and Second Branches of China Medical University in Xingshan (now Hegang City), which originated from the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army Military Medical School established by the Communist Party of China in Ruijin, Jiangxi Province in 1931. After nearly a century of development, the university inherits Dr. Wu Liande's spirit of patriotism and self-reliance, carries forward the glorious tradition of the Red Army Military Medical School of "firm politics and excellent technology", adheres to the school motto of "Upright as a Plumb Line, Learned in Medicine", and practices the educational philosophy of "Running the University for Students and Scholars, Strengthening the University through Academic Atmosphere". Its comprehensive strength has been continuously enhanced, with a considerable scale of development and distinct school-running characteristics.

学校是部委省共建大学、黑龙江省国内一流大学建设高校、中俄医科大学联盟中方牵头单位、国家理科基础科学研究与教学人才培养基地、教育部首批试办七年制高等医学教育院校、教育部高水平公共卫生学院建设高校。设有18个二级院部和8个事业单位，附属医院9所（其中直属医院5所）。现有教职工18788人，在校普通教育本科生16532人，研究生8956人（其中博士研究生2311人），留学生197人。拥有中国工程院院士2人，国家级教学名师4人，国家重点学科2个，国家重点培育学科1个，国家级一流本科专业建设点12个，进入ESI全球排名前1%学科9个（临床医学进入前1‰）。

The university is a joint university of ministries and provinces, a key university for building a domestic first-class university in Heilongjiang Province, the Chinese lead university of the Sino-Russian Medical University Alliance, a national base for basic scientific research and teaching talent cultivation in science, one of the first universities to pilot seven-year medical education by the Ministry of Education, and a university with a high-level public health school construction by the Ministry of Education. It has 18 secondary colleges and 8 public institutions, with 9 affiliated hospitals (including 5 directly affiliated hospitals). Currently, it has 18,788 faculty and staff, 16,532 undergraduate students in general education, 8,956 graduate students (including 2,311 doctoral students), and 197 international students. It has 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 4 national-level teaching masters, 2 national key disciplines, 1 national key cultivation discipline, 12 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 9 disciplines ranking in the top 1% of ESI global rankings (clinical medicine entering the top 1‰).
