湖南农业大学东方科技学院创办于2002年，是由湖南农业大学举办、教育部首批确认的全日制本科独立学院。学院坐落于历史文化名城长沙，紧邻母体学校湖南农业大学，校园环境优美，教学设施先进，实验基础条件优越，师资力量优良，办学特色鲜明。

Hunan Agricultural University Dongfang College of Science and Technology was founded in 2002. It is a full-time undergraduate independent college sponsored by Hunan Agricultural University and first confirmed by the Ministry of Education. Located in the famous historical and cultural city of Changsha, the college is adjacent to its parent school, Hunan Agricultural University. It boasts a beautiful campus environment, advanced teaching facilities, superior experimental infrastructure, excellent faculty, and distinct school-running characteristics.

学院秉承“励能笃行、知新致远”的院训，坚持应用型人才培养目标，改革创新，砥砺奋斗，办学实力不断提升，先后获得“中国一流高等独立学院”“全国先进独立学院”“全国创建平安校园示范学校”等殊荣。2020年位居武书连中国高水平独立学院排名第三。现有在籍学生5000余人，设有5个学部、22个教学系，依托母体学校优势学科开设本科专业42个，其中特色专业8个。

Adhering to the school motto of "Strive for Ability and Practice Earnestly, Seek New Knowledge and Aim Far", the college adheres to the goal of cultivating applied talents, reforms and innovates, and strives hard. Its school-running strength has been continuously improved. It has successively won honors such as "China's First-class Independent College of Higher Education", "National Advanced Independent College", and "National Model School for Building a Safe Campus". In 2020, it ranked third in the Wushulian ranking of China's high-level independent colleges. Currently, there are more than 5,000 registered students, with 5 academic divisions and 22 teaching departments. Relying on the advantageous disciplines of the parent school, it offers 42 undergraduate majors, including 8 characteristic majors.

学院致力于培育“四有”高水平教师队伍，现有教职工130余人，85.5%拥有硕士及以上学位，正高职称10人，副高职称67人。教师先后获得国家级、教育部及省级项目40余项，20余名教师荣获全国优秀教师等荣誉称号。20余年来培养优秀毕业生2.7万余名，学生考研录取率居全省独立学院首位，十四五以来获国家级奖励131项、省级荣誉217项。

The college is committed to cultivating a high-level teaching team with "ideals and beliefs, moral feelings, solid knowledge, and benevolent hearts". There are more than 130 faculty members, 85.5% of whom have master's degrees or above, including 10 with senior professional titles and 67 with associate senior professional titles. Teachers have successively obtained more than 40 national, Ministry of Education and provincial projects, and more than 20 teachers have won honorary titles such as National Excellent Teachers. Over the past 20 years, it has cultivated more than 27,000 outstanding graduates. The postgraduate entrance examination admission rate of students ranks first among independent colleges in the province. Since the 14th Five-Year Plan, it has won 131 national awards and 217 provincial honors.
