湖南电气职业技术学院创办于1941年，是经湖南省人民政府批准、由湖南省教育厅主管、大型国企湘电集团举办的全日制公办高等职业院校，前身为国民政府资源委员会中央电工器材总厂艺徒训练学校，是全国成立最早的职业技能人才培养基地之一。学院现为湖南省示范性（骨干）高职院校、湖南省楚怡双高计划建设单位，荣获全国职业院校魅力校园、全国机械行业校企合作与人才培养优秀职业院校等多项荣誉。

Hunan Electrical Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1941. It is a full-time public higher vocational college approved by the Hunan Provincial People's Government, supervised by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education, and sponsored by Xiangdian Group, a large state-owned enterprise. Its predecessor was the Apprentice Training School of the Central Electrical Equipment Factory under the Resource Committee of the National Government, and it is one of the earliest vocational skills talent training bases in China. The college is now a Hunan Provincial Demonstrative (Backbone) Higher Vocational College, a construction unit of Hunan Chuyi Double High Plan, and has won many honors such as National Vocational College Charming Campus and National Machinery Industry Excellent Vocational College for School-Enterprise Cooperation and Talent Cultivation.

学院聚焦装备制造产业发展，构建了以电梯工程技术、风力发电工程技术、智能控制技术等为核心的五大特色专业群，拥有全国职业院校装备制造类示范专业点1个，省级楚怡高水平专业群（A档）2个。依托湘电集团优势，深化产教融合，与OTIS电梯、吉利汽车等世界500强企业深度合作，建有国家级示范性职业教育集团、省级产教融合实训基地等平台，毕业生就业率连续多年保持在97%以上，培养出国家级技能大师、享受国务院政府特殊津贴等高素质技术技能人才。

Focusing on the development of the equipment manufacturing industry, the college has built five characteristic professional groups with elevator engineering technology, wind power generation engineering technology, and intelligent control technology as the core. It has 1 national vocational college equipment manufacturing demonstration professional site and 2 provincial Chuyi high-level professional groups (Grade A). Relying on the advantages of Xiangdian Group, it deepens the integration of production and education, and has in-depth cooperation with Fortune 500 enterprises such as OTIS Elevator and Geely Automobile. It has built platforms such as a national demonstration vocational education group and a provincial production-education integration training base. The employment rate of graduates has remained above 97% for many years, cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents such as national-level skilled masters and those enjoying special government allowances from the State Council.
