湖南工艺美术职业学院创建于1975年，位于湖南省益阳市，是中国特色高水平专业群建设单位（A档）、国家示范性（骨干）高职院校、国家级优质专科高等职业院校。学校前身为益阳市七·二一工艺美术大学和湖南省服装技工学校，2005年经湖南省人民政府批准正式组建。校园占地359亩，设有八院一部，构建了刺绣设计与工艺、服装与服饰设计等5大专业群，其中国家级高水平专业群1个，省级一流特色专业群3个，国家级骨干专业5个。

Hunan Arts and Crafts Vocational College, founded in 1975 and located in Yiyang City, Hunan Province, is a China Featured High-level Professional Group Construction Unit (Grade A), a National Demonstrative (Backbone) Higher Vocational College, and a National High-quality Junior College. The college originated from Yiyang July 21 Arts and Crafts University and Hunan Garment Technical School, and was officially established with the approval of Hunan Provincial People's Government in 2005. Covering an area of 359 mu, it has eight schools and one department, constructing five major professional groups including Embroidery Design and Craft, Clothing and Apparel Design, etc., with 1 national high-level professional group, 3 provincial first-class characteristic professional groups, and 5 national backbone majors.

学校秉承“致用致美”校训，现有教师500余人，其中国家级教学名师、中国工艺美术大师等高级职称教师205人，建成国内高职院校首个大师工作室群，聘请亚太地区手工艺大师刘爱云等行业精英担任兼职教师。近年来学生获国际级奖励4项、国家级166项，培养了上海世博会中国馆设计总监黄建成等大批行业精英，校友创办资产超千万企业达1200家，被誉为“工艺美术人才的摇篮”。

Adhering to the school motto of "Application and Aesthetics", the college has more than 500 teachers, including 205 senior title teachers such as national teaching masters and Chinese arts and crafts masters. It has built the first master studio group among domestic higher vocational colleges, and invited industry elites such as Asia-Pacific region craft master Liu Aiyun as part-time teachers. In recent years, students have won 4 international awards and 166 national awards. It has cultivated a large number of industry elites such as Huang Jiancheng, the design director of China Pavilion at Shanghai World Expo. Alumni have founded 1,200 enterprises with assets exceeding 10 million yuan, known as "the cradle of arts and crafts talents".
