湖南科技职业学院始建于1958年，2001年经湖南省人民政府批准升格为普通高等职业学院，2007年确定为湖南省人民政府与中华职业教育社共建单位，直属省教育厅管理。学校是国家示范性骨干高职院校、湖南省示范性高职院校、湖南省卓越高职院校、湖南省楚怡双高校建设单位、湖南省现代学徒制试点单位，是湖南省唯一获批国家示范性软件职业技术学院和首个举办人工智能学院的职业院校。

Hunan Vocational College of Science and Technology was founded in 1958. It was upgraded to a regular higher vocational college with the approval of the Hunan Provincial People's Government in 2001. In 2007, it was designated as a co-construction unit of the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the China Vocational Education Association, directly under the management of the Provincial Department of Education. The school is a national model backbone higher vocational college, a Hunan provincial model higher vocational college, a Hunan provincial excellent higher vocational college, a construction unit of Hunan Chuyi Double High School, a pilot unit of Hunan modern apprenticeship system, and the only national model software vocational and technical college approved in Hunan Province and the first vocational college to host an artificial intelligence college.

学校占地面积830亩，建筑面积26万多平方米，有天心校区（北院）、天心校区（南院）、雨花校区两个校区、三个院子，现有在校生近15000人。设有软件学院、人工智能学院、艺术学院、智能装备技术学院、商学院、药学院、湘瓷学院等7个二级学院，形成了以软件技术、人工智能技术应用、室内艺术设计3个楚怡高水平专业群为重点，以移动商务、机械制造及自动化、药学3个校内重点专业群为支撑的特色鲜明的专业体系。

The school covers an area of 830 mu, with a building area of more than 260,000 square meters. It has two campuses and three courtyards: Tianxin Campus (North Courtyard), Tianxin Campus (South Courtyard), and Yuhua Campus. There are nearly 15,000 students. It has 7 secondary colleges including School of Software, School of Artificial Intelligence, School of Art, School of Intelligent Equipment Technology, School of Business, School of Pharmacy, and Xiangci College. It has formed a distinctive professional system focusing on 3 Chuyi high-level professional groups of software technology, artificial intelligence technology application, and interior art design, supported by 3 key on-campus professional groups of mobile commerce, mechanical manufacturing and automation, and pharmacy.

学校注重教师队伍素质的提升和高层次人才的引进，现有教职工757名，其中教授、研究员等正高级职称人员40人，副教授、高级工程师等副高级职称人员157人，博士（含在读）34人；同时，打造了一支由技能大师领衔、产业导师为主体的兼课教师队伍，共计400余人。拥有国家级职业教育教师教学创新团队1支、省级专业教学团队8支，楚怡名师工作室3个，楚怡工坊2个，全国模范教师1名，全国优秀教师1名，教育部新时代职业学校名师1名，全国技术能手3名，芙蓉教学名师1名，黄炎培职业教育杰出教师5名，省级学科（专业）带头人9名，楚怡名师2名，省级青年骨干教师39名。
