湖南软件职业技术大学前身为2001年成立的湖南托普信息职业技术学院，2005年经省人民政府批准、教育部备案为湖南软件职业学院，2020年升格为本科层次职业学校，2021年正式更名为湖南软件职业技术大学，是全国60所职业本科大学之一。学校位于湖南省湘潭市，占地面积900余亩，现设有软件工程学院、人工智能学院、数字艺术设计学院等8个二级教学学院，在校生1.63万人，开设17个本科专业和22个专科专业。

Hunan Software Vocational and Technical University originated from Hunan Top Information Vocational and Technical College founded in 2001. Approved by the Hunan Provincial People's Government and filed by the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Hunan Software Vocational College in 2005. Upgraded to an undergraduate vocational school in 2020 and officially renamed to its current name in 2021, it is one of the 60 vocational undergraduate universities in China. Located in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province, the university covers an area of over 900 mu, with 8 secondary teaching colleges including the School of Software Engineering and the School of Artificial Intelligence, accommodating 16,300 students and offering 17 undergraduate programs and 22 junior college programs.

学校现有专任教师901人，其中硕士及以上学位教师554人，高级职称教师282人，拥有国家级、省级教学科研平台多个，是教育部人才培养工作评估合格高校、湖南省示范性（骨干）高职院校、湖南省楚怡高水平专业群建设单位，先后荣获湖南省文明高校、平安高校等30余项省市级荣誉。

The university has 901 full-time teachers, including 554 with master's degree or above and 282 with senior professional titles. It boasts multiple national and provincial teaching and research platforms, and has been accredited as a qualified university in talent cultivation evaluation by the Ministry of Education, a model (backbone) higher vocational college in Hunan Province, and a construction unit for Chuyi high-level professional groups in Hunan. It has also won over 30 provincial and municipal honors such as "Civilized University" and "Safe University" in Hunan.
