湖南水利水电职业技术学院是湖南省唯一一所以水利水电专业为特色的公办高职院校，由湖南省教育厅与湖南省水利厅共建，是湖南省水土保持学会理事长单位、湖南省地方电力企业管理协会会长单位。学校起步于1980年，2005年正式升格为高职专科院校，坐落在国家历史文化名城长沙，交通便利，环境优美，是湖南省文明校园和长沙市无烟学校。

Hunan Vocational College of Water Resources and Hydropower is the only public higher vocational college in Hunan Province featuring water conservancy and hydropower majors. Co-built by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education and the Hunan Provincial Department of Water Resources, it serves as the chairman unit of the Hunan Soil and Water Conservation Society and the president unit of the Hunan Local Electric Power Enterprise Management Association. Founded in 1980, the college was officially upgraded to a higher vocational college in 2005. Located in Changsha, a national historical and cultural city, it enjoys convenient transportation and a beautiful environment, and is recognized as a Civilized Campus of Hunan Province and a Smoke-Free School of Changsha.

学校占地面积675亩（含校外实训场地），建筑面积18.62万平方米，开设31个专业，形成水利工程、电力系统自动化技术、建筑工程技术、跨境电子商务和信息安全技术应用5个专业群。现有学生10068人，在职教职工400人，其中副高以上职称132人，博士12人，拥有全国黄炎培职业教育杰出教师、省部级教学名师等一批高层次人才。

Covering an area of 675 mu (including off-campus training sites) with a building area of 186,200 square meters, the college offers 31 majors, forming 5 professional groups including Water Conservancy Engineering, Power System Automation Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, Cross-border E-Commerce, and Information Security Technology Application. It has 10,068 students and 400 faculty members, among whom 132 hold senior professional titles and 12 have doctoral degrees. The college boasts a group of high-level talents such as National Outstanding Teachers of Huang Yanpei Vocational Education and provincial-level teaching masters.

学校是全国水利高等职业教育示范院校、全国优质水利高职院校、湖南省示范性（骨干）高职院校，建有国家级示范性职教集团培育单位——湖南水利职业教育集团，以及智慧电力产业学院等产教融合平台。近年来获省部级以上教科研奖励29项，授予专利100多项，毕业生就业率、专业对口率连续多年位居省内高职院校前列，为水利水电行业培养了大批高素质技术技能人才。

The college is a National Demonstrative Vocational College for Water Conservancy Higher Vocational Education, a National High-Quality Water Conservancy Higher Vocational College, and a Demonstrative (Backbone) Higher Vocational College of Hunan Province. It has established the Hunan Water Conservancy Vocational Education Group, a national demonstration vocational education group cultivation unit, and industry-education integration platforms such as the Smart Power Industry College. In recent years, it has won 29 provincial and ministerial-level teaching and research awards and been granted more than 100 patents. The employment rate and professional matching rate of graduates have ranked among the top in Hunan's higher vocational colleges for many years, cultivating a large number of high-quality technical and skilled talents for the water conservancy and hydropower industry.
