湖南铁路科技职业技术学院是经湖南省人民政府批准、教育部备案设立的公办全日制高等学校，由原铁道部创建于1956年，原名株洲铁路机械学校。2004年铁路主辅分离，学院由中国铁路广州局集团有限公司移交株洲市政府主办、湖南省教育厅业务主管，2005年3月升格为全日制高职学院。2013年8月，学校首批搬迁至云龙示范区职教大学城，校区占地面积807亩，建筑面积29万平方米，在校师生12000余人。

Hunan Vocational College of Railway Technology is a public full-time higher education institution approved by the Hunan Provincial People's Government and registered with the Ministry of Education. Founded in 1956 by the former Ministry of Railways, it was originally named Zhuzhou Railway Machinery School. In 2004, with the separation of railway main and auxiliary businesses, the college was transferred from China Railway Guangzhou Bureau Group Co., Ltd. to the Zhuzhou Municipal Government for sponsorship, with the Hunan Provincial Department of Education as its business supervisor. In March 2005, it was upgraded to a full-time vocational college. In August 2013, the school was among the first to relocate to the Vocational Education City in Yunlong Demonstration Zone, covering an area of 807 mu with a building area of 290,000 square meters, and has over 12,000 teachers and students.

学校深耕轨道交通行业近70年，设有铁道机车学院、铁道车辆学院等5个二级学院和3个教学部门，招生专业共27个，拥有4个国家级骨干专业、2个央财支持的建设专业，3个省一流特色专业群。学院聘请了包括中国工程院院士在内的行业领军人物16人，建有省级院士工作站、国家级生产实训基地等科研实践平台，毕业生就业率连年保持在95%以上，连续8次获评“湖南省普通高校毕业生就业创业工作‘一把手工程’优秀单位”。

With nearly 70 years of deep involvement in the rail transit industry, the school has 5 secondary colleges including the Railway Locomotive College and Railway Vehicle College, as well as 3 teaching departments, offering 27 enrollment majors. It boasts 4 national-level key majors, 2 construction majors supported by the central finance, and 3 provincial first-class characteristic professional groups. The college has hired 16 industry leaders including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and built scientific research and practice platforms such as a provincial academician workstation and a national-level production training base. The employment rate of graduates has remained above 95% for years, and it has been awarded the "Excellent Unit for the 'Top Leader Project' of Graduate Employment and Entrepreneurship in Hunan Provincial Colleges and Universities" for 8 consecutive times.
