湖南应用技术学院是教育部批准的全日制本科院校。学校始创于1994年，时称常德电脑技术学校；1998年成为高等教育学历文凭试点院校，更名为常德电脑专修大学；2004年升格为国家统招大专院校，更名为湖南同德职业学院；2014年升格为国家统招本科院校，更名为湖南应用技术学院。学校坚持以习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想为指引，坚持社会主义办学方向，依法办学、科学治校，五育并举、立德树人，秉承“博今古、承文明、强能力、事国家”的校训，“知难而进、自强不息”的办学精神，遵循“以教学为中心，以质量为根本，以市场为导向，以创新为引领，以特色立品牌”的办学思路，为区域经济社会发展培养高素质应用型人才。

Hunan University of Applied Technology is a full-time undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education. Founded in 1994 as Changde Computer Technology School, it became a pilot institution for higher education diplomas in 1998 and was renamed Changde Computer College. In 2004, it was upgraded to a national unified recruitment college and renamed Hunan Tongde Vocational College. In 2014, it was升格为升格 to a national unified recruitment undergraduate institution and adopted its current name. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the university adheres to the socialist orientation in running schools, operates in accordance with the law, governs scientifically, promotes all-round development of students with moral integrity, intellectual ability, physical fitness, aesthetic sensibility, and labor skills, and upholds the school motto of "Learn from the Past and Present, Inherit Civilization, Strengthen Abilities, and Serve the Country" and the spirit of "Advance Despite Difficulties, Strive Continuously". 学校现有东、西两个校区，占地面积103.86万平方米，建筑总面积52.12万平方米，其中教学行政用房21.91万平方米，拥有纸质图书156.58万册、电子图书151万余册，宽带网络、WIFI覆盖全校。现有教师768人，其中高级职称教师242人，拥有博士、硕士学位636人；现有全日制在校学生13957人。设有11个教学院（部），开设有园林、水产养殖学、机械设计制造及其自动化、物联网工程等23个本科专业，以及数字媒体艺术设计、商务英语等13个专科专业。学科专业建设以本科教育为主，构建以工、管为主体，农科为特色，农、工、管、经、文、艺等多学科协调发展的体系，现有省“十四五”双一流应用特色学科2个、省一流本科专业建设点3个，《交互设计专题》课程入选国家级一流本科课程。

The university has two campuses (East and West), covering an area of 1,038,600 square meters with a total building area of 521,200 square meters, including 219,100 square meters of teaching and administrative space. It boasts 1.5658 million paper books, over 1.51 million e-books, and full campus coverage of broadband network and WIFI. There are 768 faculty members, including 242 with senior professional titles and 636 with doctoral or master's degrees, and 13,957 full-time students. The university comprises 11 teaching colleges (departments), offering 23 undergraduate programs such as Landscape Architecture, Aquaculture, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, and Internet of Things Engineering, as well as 13 junior college programs including Digital Media Art Design and Business English. Focusing on undergraduate education, it has developed a disciplinary system with engineering and management as the mainstay, agricultural science as a特色, and coordinated development of agriculture, engineering, management, economics, liberal arts, and art. It has 2 provincial "14th Five-Year Plan" first-class applied characteristic disciplines, 3 provincial first-class undergraduate program construction sites, and its course "Interactive Design Project" has been selected as a national first-class undergraduate course.
