湖南外贸职业学院是一所全日制公办普通高校，前身为1954年创办的湖南省粮食学校和1978年创办的湖南省对外经济贸易学校，2003年7月两校合并升格组建湖南对外经济贸易职业学院，2010年10月经湖南省人民政府批准更为现名，2023年11月起由湖南省商务厅转隶省教育厅。学校位于长沙市望城区外贸路1号，占地面积673亩，建筑面积近20万平方米，校园硬件设施完善，环境整洁优雅。

Hunan International Business Vocational College is a full-time public ordinary college. Its predecessors were Hunan Provincial Grain School founded in 1954 and Hunan Provincial Foreign Economic and Trade School founded in 1978. In July 2003, the two schools merged and upgraded to establish Hunan Foreign Economic and Trade Vocational College. In October 2010, it was renamed to its current name with the approval of the Hunan Provincial People's Government. Since November 2023, it has been transferred from the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce to the Provincial Department of Education. The school is located at No. 1, Waomao Road, Wangcheng District, Changsha City, covering an area of 673 mu with a construction area of nearly 200,000 square meters. The campus has complete hardware facilities and a clean and elegant environment.

学校开设国际经济与贸易、商务英语、大数据与会计、电子商务等31个专业，其中国际经济与贸易、跨境电商为湖南省楚怡高水平专业群。现有全日制在校学生10400余人，教职工500余人，秉持“诚信立身，勤奋立业”的校训，以“国际视野办学，育高端商务人才”为办学理念，凸显“外贸+外语”的“外”字办学特色，培养“外语+技能+文化素养”的高素质复合型人才。

The college offers 31 majors such as International Economics and Trade, Business English, Big Data and Accounting, and E-Commerce, among which International Economics and Trade and Cross-border E-Commerce are part of the high-level professional groups of "Chuyi" in Hunan Province. It has more than 10,400 full-time students and over 500 faculty members. Adhering to the school motto of "Integrity Builds Character, Diligence Achieves Career" and the educational philosophy of "Running the School with an International Vision to Cultivate High-end Business Talents", it highlights the "foreign-oriented" school-running characteristic of "foreign trade + foreign language" and cultivates high-quality compound talents with "foreign language + skills + cultural literacy".

学校是首批湖南省示范性高等职业学院、商务部首批国际商务官员研修基地，拥有国际经济与贸易等省级楚怡高水平专业群，牵头成立中非经贸合作职业教育产教联盟等多个平台。近年来荣获国家级教学成果奖1项，教师获省级以上职业能力竞赛奖91项，学生技能竞赛国家级获奖31项、省级176项，毕业生初次就业率连续5年超90%，用人单位满意度达95%以上，被誉为“湘商摇篮”。

The college is one of the first batch of Hunan Provincial Demonstrative Higher Vocational Colleges and the first batch of International Business Officials Training Bases of the Ministry of Commerce. It has high-level professional groups such as International Economics and Trade. It has taken the lead in establishing multiple platforms including the Vocational Education Industry-Education Alliance for China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation. In recent years, it has won 1 national teaching achievement award, faculty members have won 91 provincial and above vocational ability competition awards, and students have won 31 national and 176 provincial skill competition awards. The initial employment rate of graduates has exceeded 90% for five consecutive years, and the satisfaction rate of employers has reached over 95%, known as the "Cradle of Hunan Merchants".
